I just locked down some eggs. The silkie eggs that my family took away from my broody - 5 of the 6 were infertile. The one that was fertile, sure appears to be ready to hatch - it was chirping. We have no idea how long those eggs had been incubated under the broody. I guess we found out! 7 of the 23 backyard mix I set were also infertile or obviously not still viable.
I have 1 that is questionable and 15 that looked good. Hopefully I'll wake up to at least 1 chick!
