How 'bout a molded plastic pond liner, a small one, like for ornamental back yards? Deeper than you need, but should work.
yes but they are expensive arent they? I was looking at the cement mixers but they are fairly small, would be ok in the winter perhaps.
I'm not sure anymore; we'v had our's for years. You could use a sheet of heavy duty black plastic, too

No need to be terrified. If you flush the hose until the water is cold, most of the contaminants that have leeched out of the hose have been removed. As the hose cools, it releases fewer and fewer chemicals into the water. Never drink water that has been heated in a hose or plastic bottle, and never give it to your birds, either.
