Says "All Clear" at Andrew's AFB
My opinion is possible wry neck. Give it Polyvitasol without iron.
Day ten, or don't use them at all.
They will get used to it. By all means, leave them out there tonight.
knobels is awesome!! most locals here go there instead of hershey park or dorney
..... waiting to see an update....Hi all. Just before leaving, I had one of Jace's pullets escape and run into the woods. I tried for the longest time to catch her, but couldn't. I planned on getting back before dark, but I got delayed. Now I can't find her and I feel terrible for leaving her....![]()
Maybe she's okay. I had a duck vanish for 3 days once and come back unharmed....![]()
foxtail is a plantYou mean a piece of a fox tail or is foxtail something different?
I not sure I have the stomach for this. Ugh.
Not home yet to do a thing.
LOL
thats how i always describe NJ and its smell lolNevada is BEAUTIFUL, but Vegas is not. Reno is a little better. I have driven across the US 8 times. I've hit most states. NJ - I only remember driving through a tiny section. But, I've always heard Jersey was the armpit of the east coast.![]()
Agreed, at least for the few i've been toGood night MC!
I have never canned anything, and I still get up several times a night when I have chickies hatching.... I've hatched hundreds of chicks. It doesn't get old!! I don't panic when one is slow to zip. I don't help struggling ones anymore. I think I have close to 200 babies and adults running around my yard right now....or settling in for the night. The rest of my family and my BF think I'm nuts. They don't understand chicken math.
I've lived on both coasts, I prefer the west coast to the east for climate. I still have family on the east coast, so I do go visit, but that's enough for me. I like being able to go to the beach in the morning, and heading to the local mountains to go night skiing in the winter. In the summer, it gets a bit warm, but I can have a garden year round. I'd take an earthquake over a tornado any day. The absolute worst thing about living here is politics. I'm woefully outnumbered.
But the one thing I learned is that there is some impressive scenery in every state.
Well, I think it's dark enough for me to go candle my eggs and move them to lock down!!
Happy Hatching everyone!
any update yet??I just locked down some eggs. The silkie eggs that my family took away from my broody - 5 of the 6 were infertile. The one that was fertile, sure appears to be ready to hatch - it was chirping. We have no idea how long those eggs had been incubated under the broody. I guess we found out! 7 of the 23 backyard mix I set were also infertile or obviously not still viable.
I have 1 that is questionable and 15 that looked good. Hopefully I'll wake up to at least 1 chick!
LOL, what color duckI have decided that I am a duck. They go to bed very late, and wake very early.
Brb
awwwwI cannot get over my ducklings! The real Banti (male) will be going to a farm soon to take the place of another Pekin. I am not ready for that yet though! Why? Well, I am so glad you asked!![]()
While the dog curled up in my blanket heap on the bed, I went outside to watch the sunrise and drink my coffee (I stepped in duck poop wearing flip flops) I saw that no one was outside in the run yet, so as I opened the door, I called softly to my drake. I heard his eager response as he rushed through the coops (from the attached duck pen and through the chicken pen). I fed and got the hose to give water. It is kinda funny having your hand in the food with two ducks eating around you!![]()
Then I heard the poults. I turn around, and those two ducklings had come out with their brood.I wasn't sure if the poults were still attached to the ducklings. Apparently they are very much so!![]()
I went to shut off the hose, and as I turned back around, the ducklings were headed for the baby pool I had just finished refilling. The babies running after them! Stephen Tyler (rooster) had just come outside, and was standing next to the one SPR that was last to get out of the food. That chick ran after the others, screaming, "Wait! Wait! I wasn't done eating!!"![]()
So, I am afraid if I let Banti go now, the babies and Christopher (the girl) will be traumatized.
awesome!I start making paracord bracelet. It is nice and I have the time for it!![]()
i drink from my hose everyday, so does my DDoh lol thats ok Benny
question for you, is it true that using a garden hose to fill waterers is really bad for chickens and they use some lead to make the brass nozzels and such? Do the associated toxins such as the bisphenol A plastics, harm chickens and in turn us? There was a discussion on FB and someone posted that the levels are 20% above what is safe for drinking???
YAYYYYY!!!!Oh! I forgot to mention- I went out to do the chickens, and the little pullet was back.![]()

Wry Neck post #60013Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone could help me. I have been redirected here from the baby chick pictures forum as I have a problem with one of my latest hatchings. This poor little thing doesn't seem to be able to stand up at all. I took it to the vet this morning and they've said it is a developmental problem. It can sit up for so long, but then it will fall over and roll on to its back, unable to get up. Also it's head keeps lolling to one side. It can't stand up at all, doesn't seem to have the strength in its legs. I thought maybe it could be some form of splay leg? Or maybe even a vitamin deficiency? Any advise/help would be great. One the bottom picture it's the one that is sat funny with its legs out in front of it...as you probably will have already guessed. Thanks!![]()

Wry Neck post #60013Any ideas as to how I can help it? Or do you think that it's not long for this world...like the vet said? Thanks
