Help!!! New to chicks and incubation. Bought a cheaper incubator and put 4 of my new serama chick eggs in there with little hope and now on the 19th day I am hearing "peeping" I opened it heard it and shut it fast! i have 3 other viable previously candled eggs in there. I don't have damp paper towel in there-just the plastic mesh floor. Once the first chick hatches what do I do??? how long can I leave it in there to see if another hatches, do I put in damp paper towels now..... I am so lost-I wasn't ready for this to actually work!!! iIt doesnt have a clear viewing window either-I have to peak from the side to see anything...... Ugh!!!! HELP!!!

yes-added some moisture for humidity-it was a little low. didnt see any external pips. what should I do now? I am an ER & ICU nurse-I can deliver babies and restart peoples hearts but I this chick thing is a whole different ballgame!!! Put the damp paper towels in now??? and not to sound dumb but what exactly do you mean by lockdown? I thought that meant dont open it under any circumstance???

Ok I think I was wrong-I think there is a very small outside crack/pip..... like i said its not the best bator-not a clear window-like foggy plastic from the side so it is so hard to tell!!! just leave it?? It doesnt even have a humidity gauge on the outside-i put one on the inside but can see it without opening the lid. Should i just leave it and add a little water for humidity??

I might just look into that! Hey, a new bator is a good excuse to hatch more eggs, anyways!

Lock down tomorrow after I get home from fishing, now do I turn on day 18 or just leave them?

Also fill the channels with coffee instead of water & keep a flex-straw on the nightstand in case you need a caffeine fix in a hurry

Hi everyone.

Eggs from broody are doing well. Grabbed three to candle tonight after she got up for water. All three are developing. These were the ones that I washed not expecting another broody. Then she got off the nest several times being confused by the others laying eggs. All by herself now and she's setting great.

Another hot day. 102 but cooling quickly.

First tomatoes off the vine tonight

Trailhead fire is growing threatening Georgetown.

Good morning!!! So a chick hatched some time between 4 & 7:30 this am. Sooo tiny-It's a serama. Chirping like crazy but having a hard time walking or standing-ended up on her back once! How long do I leave her in the bator? she looks like she's drying off nicely-eyes open-and loud! I am working on a brooder box for her now,. Don't want to move her too soon but dont want to leave her in too long etiher. what is the best way? Thanks!!!
