Happy birthday, Seth

Chicken hawk, please explain red velvet to me. Every time I eat it I don't understand. Isn't it suppose to taste like chocolate. It doesn't taste like chocolate to me.

Biggest difference is way less cocoa and uses buttermilk instead of milk in the red velvet. I lIke both!!.

You know you rank low when someone says good night, then hangs out here.

It isn't that. I post or try to catch up on the thread and then walk away to do chores, come back, try to catch up some more, off to do chores, et. al.. I'm here but not always here.

thanks MC! I have missed everyone here too!
Hi Banti!

my incubator has been off for over three months!
Life took over, what can I say.
Had trouble selling off my spring hatches, now I have people begging me to hatch... go figure.
Isn't that always the way it goes?
I can't believe I started to rebuild my cabinet/hatcher combo in the winter and still using a LG. Just haven't been able to devote the time.

Lol I have a nephew who brews his own! I want to make honey mead myself. Uncle still has hives.
I want to make mead too. I was planning on mulberry wine this spring but failed to collect the berries I needed. Chickens, wild birds, squirrels and deer got them all.

I have a headache.
I seriously was like, "Oh, I will have chicks soon too" like saying that I am having coffee in the morning. Then I was suddenly like, "I am having chicks soon! Purebred chicks! Chicks I can sell off, and people will want! Chicks! Lots of chicks!

" Like saying I am going to Starbucks in the morning, and I will be the only customer. All the coffee I want, all day long, for free!
Old hat so to speak.

I am only hatching Silver Pencil Rocks. They are different from the better known Barred Rock, and that makes them more appealing. The pattern is more appealing IMO.

I am moving to Canada. I can't remember what stopped me before.
I used to have Silver Penciled as well as Partridge, Barred and White Rocks. They are very pretty. I've gotten to where I favor all white and all black birds.

I've lost track of how many chicks I have. There's 9 in one building, maybe 8 or 10 in another, 8 three day olds on the back porch. It's so hot none of them have a heat source.
There are 10 due to hatch in two days and another 20 due on the 30th.
I was transferring eggs and dropped 2. 1 is about to hatch and the other is from the 30th batch. I had a bottle of liquid skin bandage sitting next to the incubator that I painted over all the cracks and when it dried, I added clear nail polish. I've never had a broken egg hatch before but we'll see.
The one that is 2 days away had cracks all around it. The other one just had a big divot in it.

Um, MC?
six months of winter, one month of spring, four, months of mosquitos, one month of fall, repeat?

I think we had this discussion some time in February, when it was oh.... minus 30 F here.

Just sayin.....
I can do without the months of mosquitos. Maybe why I haven't embraced Canada as much as I'd like.

Here it's 3 months of winter, 3 months of spring, another 2 weeks of winter to kill all the fruit, 2 more months of spring, 2 months of 100F and extreme humidity, 2 months of fall.
Doesn't always repeat but that's most years. Some years we get 6 months of winter. Some years it is 6 months of extreme heat.

This week will be rough. At least 3 days over 100F and humidity ranging from 50-80%.
At 9:30 last night the heat index was still 99F and at 4AM it is still 83F actual temperature without humidity figured in. It's only getting up to 96F today but with a heat index of 103.
I'll be putting out a lot of foot baths this week.
I'm a little worried about young chicks in these temps.

Happy Birthday young man!

Missed this one. It's a shop we have here in California that sells brew making equipment. Can get the same on line but don't get the experience that comes along with buying at the shop.
It sure beats poring over internet posts for info when you can just walk in, tell them what you want, they give you the options that suit your needs and you walk out with your stuff. The one by me has complete lines for both beer and wine making. Well, it isn't really that close. It's about 45 minutes across town.

Not it isn't cruel it is natural!
It seems that you had a very comforting dinner !

X2 If you let them hatch naturally, you'll be producing the most vigorous lines.

I forgot to mention an ingredient in the homemade cream sauce - tomatoes. Gave it a pinkish hue.

I guess I never have tasted a real red velvet cake. I don't like them.
I don't really like cake of any kind. If I have to have one for a birthday, I'll take chocolate/chocolate.

Anyone tell me the breed of these 2 roosters and the hen ?

You may want to post in the following section. Lots of people there love chiming in on that type of question.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this
I'm reluctant since I'm not sure what the options are in the Philippines.
I can't make out the rooster's comb.
