Just fine, for now. I bought a Super Soaker on Kristn's suggestion, filled it, & set it on top of the coop; haven't needed it yet.

Glad to know they are being used, I tried to get it organized so things are easier to find. I just love that it covers so much more than incubation, I have had many searches and never so much in one spot, you guys are all such a wealth of info!!

Now there are 3 before I can even get up to speed, & 3 more less than a mile down the road. Soon after we came up here to Walkersville, a girl at work, a D.C. native, asked me where Walkersville was; I told her 12 miles north of Frederick. She said " There ain't nothing north of Frederick"

At least you have it ready. Hope you never need to use it though.

Not yet, I gotta go now but will when I get back
@BantyChooks not sure this is in that pullet work in progress link....
Ok

Mike and I are trying to figure out how to start the OP and figure out how to keep an index as well. I need to get into the right frame of mind to get it going, just havent been able to concentrate too much lately. Shouldnt be too long, I hope we can all spread the word about the thread when we create it, its not only going to be the best of byc its going to be sharing thoughts on those bests and other improved ideas that others may have as well. Should be very cool and perhaps help everyone out at one point or another.
Good luck on the endeavor. It's hard to be wonderful and creative when too much is on your plate.

I think this is splendid since so many non farm type people want to keep poultry and aren't sure where to start.

Nothing except you!
I'm off of a what was a main rural highway and even though it is at the far north of a major metropolitan area the speed limit was always 55 as long as I could remember and there were no lights. The road I'm on was the original wagon route to a ferry crossing of the Missouri river. This goes back hundreds of years. Then there were 2 stop lights installed on the afore mentioned rural highway but the speed limit remained the same. Now there are 6 lights. A couple for shopping centers. The most recent was for a new Walmart.

The speed limit is now 45. If more subdivisions go in, it will be 35 and more lights.

When my family was in Tortola in the BVI, they were getting ready to install the first traffic light on the island at a busy roundabout. I met the lights with disdain that were laying on the sidewalks before installation.

I agree with all that. Another thing not mentioned is that continuously hatching from pullet eggs will decrease the size of eggs from successive generations.

Depends on how much space you have. They might appreciate some friends of their own species. I'd try 3 of each.

I have roughly 5 acres that they have free range access to, and the pond/lake is about 3 acres in size. They are the only two birds remaining on the pond. There is a heron that visits every now and then and also a crane, but I haven't seen him in a while.

The heron will come and go, depending on cover available and the other waterbodies in the area.

With what you have, I'd get more birds. Perhaps a lot more, including swans.
