There's a lot of good to be said for insulating coops; not for the cold, but for the heat

X2. I'll admit that when we built our coop, we insulated it but were only thinking of the cold. It really does work for heat too.

My original coop & run are under a huge Maple; it can get nasty hot here, too.

Our coop is just inside the edge of the tree line with trees on all sides. We argued for a couple weeks over where we'd put it. I think we picked the perfect spot.

ETA: I have 2 goofy broodies sitting on nest boxes right now. I don't know how they can stand it! Their eggs are developing nicely though.

I was turning eggs and heard a few very faint peeps from eggs due to hatch in 20 hours.
I guess the newer eggs won't get turned for a day or two.

I need to set more eggs between now and noon Thursday for the Zodiac hatch.
I don't know if I have room for a dozen more eggs in there.

Its been three months since i incubated anything and im getting the incubator itch lol , i went from 48 chickens to 7 chickens and of course i still have the two ducks simon and daffy and im proud to say simon started laying eggs last week , yoda the chicken still insists on sitting on eggs she and the other knock the eggs out so she starts all over on stealing eggs so im holding off on starting up the bator now till i ser if her eggs hatch

Mini Cows, Not sure I want a mini cow, I think I want a real big cow, to eat. I wish I could do rabbits, just dont think I could do the deed, they are so cute and cuddly ughhhh
