No. Forcing me to eat and denying me the right to move much was part of the abuse. I gained one hundred pounds the first year. He was so happy.

It tastes like rubbing alcohol and pencil.
pencil would clearly be a problem.

Congrats! Can't complain too much about 8 out of 11, right? I'd be thrilled if I got pea eggs to incubate that well.

It is clearly a good rate out of a LG that swings from 97-106,

That sort of green isn't good, but it cold be any number of things. How hardcore do you want to treat?

X2 on the bad color.

Looks like some type of poisoning to me.

Quick somebody call an ambulance. Does anybody know the number for 911?
I think it's 867-5309.
I want it. I want it.

The six chicks are still going strong.
Bonus.

I wanted to add something on my philosophy on breeding. Inbreeding can work if the gene pool is very small - as is your case and mine.

The main reason I like to pedigree chicks is to know which rooster sired them so as to prevent full brothers and sisters from mating. If the full brother/sister team are ideal representatives of their breed, it can work. However, just as it can improve qualities, it can exacerbate deficiencies, to a possible terrible end.
By leg banding chicks by flock, even if it has multiple roosters, you guarantee there will be no full sibling matings which will eventually lower breed vigor.
Inbreeding isn't for the novice. The best new breeders can do is line breeding. That is where you identify 2 lines of the best rooster and best hen. Then breed mother to best son, grandson, great grandson, great great grandson, etc.. Breed father to daughter, granddaughter, great granddaughter, etc.. All along, one must choose the best of the breed at each generation.

First and foremost, vigor is more important than color, size, shape, combs, feet, etc.. It doesn't matter what a bird looks like if their progeny are sickly.

That dont sound good.... Wonder what she could have gotten? Feed is fresh and dry.

What's the reason for taking there box?
It is a small box. 18 chicks (at this point) are not going to survive with two moms in there too.

Yes it is!!!
You don't live near a big city, do you?

It is a family trait. His cousins, my neighbors, don't allow me to watch television at night.

Yup

You are right. Metal poisoning?
I think it's 867-5309.

LOL!

Good info. I am aware of a list of band options. I am wondering what you personally use?

Thanks everyone. I know these are not supposed to be able to tell the sex of them but two are yellowish and four are chipmunk like. Curious to see if it works out to two and four.

My SPR were four large light colored and two small dark. It turned out to be one of the lights was a girl. Otherwise, it was small dark girls and big light boys. That is apparently common in this line.

There are all kinds of poisonous things in the environment. Do they free range?

No. They have a large run though, and lots of stuff ends up in there.

There are so many cars..... I must have counted fifty.

Kidding. I aint quite that far out in the sticks.

Interesting point about metal poisoning.... I found some metal in the run recently they had dug up. I threw it away, of course, but it makes you wonder how much more is in there....
