I would love to try to kill just one to see what they are, no one is brave enough, they are still very upset since Thursday, I think the goats and chickens keep stirin them up and I sure as heck am not going near that run.

You shoulda taken a nappy
Far as I know, honeybees don't make ground nests; yellow jackets definitely do. Either way, you'd be safe enough after dusk; they both go to bed with the chickens. @ChickenCanoe

It was hot and very humid, fortunately there were clouds to block the sun most of the time. Rain would have been extra nice but no such luck.

I did it! I got all 9 done!![]()
It was SLOOOOOOOOOW because I was plucking, not skinning. But it's so great to have them done and not have to cull two days in a row.
Before I collapse, anyone seen anything like this?
It was on the keel of a little blue copper maran cockerel - found it after scalding and plucking. Seems to have clear fluid under the skin (no, I didn't mess with it).
OK, I'm crashing... (That's what I get for getting up at 3am)![]()

Humans by definition are animals
LOL, I'm certain the law is written to say not to be sold for human consumption.

@MotorcycleChick
And everyone one else interested.
Here's the first rooster butchered from the Dark Cornish I bought April 7. Noisiest and probably the smallest. Must say I'm more impressed with them now. This weight is minus the bag weight, also no skin backs necks or wings except the first section.
