Good afternoon. What part of Africa?

That's one of two things I carry on a daily basis that I don't feel dressed without.

We are in Eastern Congo (large, Kinshasa Congo).

Im disappointed! We only got two pheasant chicks from our batch even though the others looked viable in the shell. I think if we do it again I wont stop the rotation or lower the temp at day 21. So many said 23 days for them but after research it can take as long as 28 days and ours never even pipped until day 25!! I would account the late deaths to the lowered temp. Wont do that again.

So far we have 2 pheasant chicks, 4 guinea fowl in the brooder.

In the bator I still have 7 khaki campbells hatching now. Three pipped and resting, one begining to pip and another two you can hear working on the pip. I think one isnt viable at this point and probably died some time back. Sooooo excited for my ducks!!

Any tips on getting my guineas to stop calling? I have an eco glow in with them set at an angle so they can choose warmth level, so I dont believe thats the problem. They are very wild just unning around the edge of the brooder non-stop. Not sure what else to do for them - they have both feed and water. Ideas?

Quail are starting to hatch. I woke at 4:16 this morning, 3 were zipping. 5:15 3 were out! Ohhhh boy! Time to move Giants to coop, clean out the barn brooder and put quail in the barn. New eggs arrived Saturday as well. 18 again, my bator is full.

400

Waiting for them to dry!

Hi, I just wanted to update you all...
The other day I posted on here about my duck eggs as I couldn't see veins or movement in some of themand it was day 21. Well today I candled them and I saw movement in all 10! Thanks for all of your help. One last thing.. because they are shipped eggs a couple have saddle air sacs, tomorrow is lockdown would you suggest sitting them ones in a cut down egg carton? Would I sit it up straight to hatch?

Lots of us hatch in cartons; I did myself last time around. I don't know if being saddled would make a difference; never had that situation.

Try tagging Sally; she'd know. I tried to, but my tags aren't working right now, for some reason

I'm sorry about your disappointing hatch. You are right to try another way for the next hatch.
Congrats on the ducks!
Guineas are loud anyway, but sometimes a batch of babies are just complainers. As long as they have clean bottoms, you have done all you can.

#4 is out.

:celebrate :weee

AWESOME!!! Yes, saddle cells usually get hatched upright. Good luck!
