Is it bad that all I want to do is stay in bed today? Heat, kids, birthday party yesterday for husband and son, week trip to Florida and back (still haven't recovered from that) oh and did I say heat! I know everyone is experiencing this heat bake and I hope drinking plenty of water. I just want to curl up on my bed and sleep all day.

No, of course not! Get some of your drink of choice to put on the bedside table (coffee, tea, water, or your preferred adult beverage), a magazine or book, and just curl up! Nap, read, nap, stare at ceiling, nap...

Please can someone tell me more about the saddle air sacks or whatever they are called? I think I have some with that - all shipped eggs - and I would love more info please!! I made a HUGE painful mistake of thinking an egg that had a very odd shapped air sack wasnt viable a few days ago and it had been! Still brings me to tears.

So with the saddle shaped aircells, they are supposed to be hatched upright. What if I have some in the bator at this moment that are hatching and have already pipped while laying on their side?! Should I still move them upright at this point or leave them be?

Well I'm disappointed with my project roosters. The Dark Cornish beat by about 1/2 pound At least on the two I weighed. Not an average by any means but I did not expect that much difference especially since the DC is a week younger. I had to weigh them again as I thought the scale went wacky. DC actually looked smaller

Calling it a day for butchering at 5 roosters. 102 in the shade.

I hate butchering on a warm day, much less when it is hot.

We no longer have any drive ins here. We used to have a bunch when I was growing up. The closest now is about 30 miles away in IL.
Many small towns had one when I was a kid. Missouri had over 120 when I was a kid. By the time I could drive, we were down to 100 or less. By the late '80s there were 25 and down to 14 by 2000. The Kansas City area still has a few.

Gorgeous. Nice to wake up to that view every day.

No volcanos at all. We have to worry about the...big one. Earthquake inevitable. Folks are always saying, be prepared, we are due. I love living in this valley, with these huge mountains surrounding us. Our view is great from the back porch too..better in the winter when there aren't any leaves on our trees blocking the view..so, I can see from the kitchen window better.

We're overdue for the big one on the New Madrid fault but some experts now say it may never come.

We are in Eastern Congo (large, Kinshasa Congo).

The liquor store is very close to my office but from my house it's 20 minutes :*(

I can ride my bike either direction on my road to a source and be back in 6 minutes.
However, it's difficult to carry a 30 pack on a bike.

If I don't look across the street, just look back or side to side, I'd think I was in the middle of nowhere but I'm close to everything.

Never been there. Family is all camping out at Lake St. Mary's in August. Can't swim or fish there, water has bacteria still. I will go as long as I am off for it.

I love camping but why do people do it in July and August? When camping, I hate bugs and I hate to sweat. Both are always part of a July/August camping trip.
October/November and March/April are my preferred time to camp. Even December is nice. Just dress warmer and build a bigger fire. No bugs, no sweat.

Not bad at all. I had a very late night. I got up early to make coffee, tea and turn eggs. Then I lounged on the couch watching the Walking Dead.

We were the last team to be assigned a table. We won our first round 9-4. Winner is first team to 9 wins. In our second round we got behind 5-1 but came charging back and we were down 8-7. One of our all-stars was down to the 8 ball and missed. His opponent got his last 2 balls in and missed the 8. The 8 was in the corner and our guy missed bouncing the ball around the corner. Then they won, knocking us out of the tournament. The worst part was that the other guy was a real jerk. Every time he missed, he yelled at his girlfriend like it was her fault. I wanted him to lose so badly. Had we won that game and the next, we would have been one of the 8 four man teams playing today. All teams playing today win money. If you win today's 3 rounds, money could go up to $4k. Then the winner of the 4 man tournament plays the winner of the 5 man and the winner of that gets around 8k.

First match, I won 2, lost 1 (scratched on the 8)
Second match, I was 1 and 1. I sat out 2 rounds but I should have played cause a couple of our guys had been drinking a long time - it was 10 PM. I drank mostly water during the day.

Maybe a breast blister?

Far as I know, honeybees don't make ground nests; yellow jackets definitely do. Either way, you'd be safe enough after dusk; they both go to bed with the chickens. @ChickenCanoe

You're right, they're likely yellow jackets.
However, you DON'T mess with a hive after dark. I can open a hive and pull frames on a warm sunny day with no protection or smoke. If I attempt to open the hive at dusk, the bees pour out and attack with a vengeance.

We live in the North-Eastern side of Congo in a small very remote village actually. Much more my pace of living than the city. We've been here just over a year now and plan to be here long term. My husband is a bush pilot and Im working to create a community development program that gets people started with raising animals to improve their quality of life - hence incubating!

Just new to it but excited for what can happen with them.
