Does this chick look malpositioned in the shell and that it needs help? The pip had a toe coming through and I read it may not be able to get out because of that so I enlarged the hole to see what's going on. None of the others have unzipped yet either. These ducks are very important so Im not open to "just leaving them" to not hatch since they're alive. Advice please. It seems the more I read on BYC the more conflicting information I find!
I'm no ducky expert, never hatched em, but good luck!! It should be able to get out, I would think.... :fl

Woke up to find 2 more in the bator, count is now 10. My son is to keep an eye on it during my work hours, we shall see if he does.
Congrats on the littles. Hopefully the boy does what he's told

Bad luck here on my vacation hatch. Just candled on day 7, and had 12 clears and 1 that looks to be an early quitter. My SIL has used the incubator twice before, also with bad results. We did not calibrate the thermometer, could this be the cause?
Entirely possible.

Ducks will take considerable longer to hatch after they pip then chicks do.

It's always important to actually go into the home to check on the elderly. It happens so often.

You're not nuts. But I don't really want to relive the days of my youth without such a thing as AC in the same conditions we have today, summer after summer.

I watch the weather reports. When it has been warm and it's going to be cold, I like to close the house up to retain some of the warmth and vice versa. My wife is the complete opposite. She'll keep the windows open till the weather turns and immediately turn on the AC or heat.
:rant

When we met, my husband would blast the heat (house, pickup and 18 wheeler) then the AC when it got hot. Back to heat. Back to AC. He couldn't understand why setting the thermostat to the temp you wanted was the way to go. He liked the temp to be 75-80* in the winter, and 60-65* in the summer.
It was a very confusing dress code. Let me tell you!

No, it doesn't look in distress. Chaos is right. Ducks are slow to get out of the shell.

I have a comment on the mental state of that man, but will refrain lest I get kicked off of BYC. :duc
