I updated the Zodiac HAL with new set dates for later this year.

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...xing-moon-in-fruitful-signs-hal#post_17309424

The August set periods for my location are:

August 15, 7:38 AM till August 17, 8:19 PM - They would hatch in September when the moon is waxing (moving toward full) in the fruitful sign of Scorpio.

August 24, 9:22 PM till August 26, 2:05 PM - So they'll hatch in September when the moon is waxing in the fruitful sign of Pisces.
(Pisces extends further but the moon will be full at 2:05 PM)

That pool hall is HUGE, sounds like your team did very well sorry you didn't win but at least you had fun
...
It sure does. I thought about that but I do use a backpack.
Are those your feet? Looks relaxing.

I have those stall shavings bales scattered around too.

@BantyChooks

Banti you can take my name off the lost list. No broodies at this time.

And as itt turns out there's too many cooks in the kitchen as far as my Altsterier chickens are concerned. Spoke with a guy who has raised them. Two of the hens are not worthy of using as breeding stock. So I'll try with the remaking two and see.

He has one hen he will ship to me for shipping cost only.
That would be great to get a good hen.

I would suggest siphoning the gas off, but that might cause other issues.

Like lip cancer.

The Solar City guy was here this morning measuring and taking pictures. Time for the designers to do their thing now.
So you're getting it done?
Looks that way, unless someone throws a monkey wrench in the works

If eggs are fertile, temperature is the # 1 cause of failure. Especially when thermometers and thermostats are not known to be accurate.
Both are notoriously inaccurate.
An occasional spike to 103 or a temporary drop to 96 or so won't kill them but high or low temps throughout incubation will cause them to fail. If your thermometers are off a couple degrees (which many are), that's enough to ruin the hatch.

Just WOW!
That's the opposite of what I do. Summer thermostats are set to go to 85 when the house is empty and drop to 78 at night. Winter numbers are 62 at night and when no one is home and go to 70 for a couple hours in the morning and in the evening.

That would make dressing for weather a toughie. Perhaps he had trouble regulating his body temperature.

Love sleeping in the cold. Pull on a blanket and enjoy.
I don't even mind seeing my breath at night with enough blankets.

18 eggs due July 30
15 due August 10
All are Black Penedesencas

What is the purpose of these updates?
So the federal government will know where all chickens are?

That's hilarious. I would have figured that was from 2012. Last year wasn't as bad as normal. My chickens have ignored the foot baths this year. I no longer have American, English or Continental class chickens though.

You are a very good knowledgeable hatcher.

It sure does. I thought about that but I do use a backpack.

The notes & updates are for reference, so theoretically one can look at the hatcher list instead of members having to repeat what eggs they have set, incubator type, etc.....

I am melting, took kids in the pool early today. Not a good day to sit poolside only in the pool gross out there, I hate heat.
We got a great break in the heat overnight. Thunderstorms all night and it is still raining and only 79 right now. We're not supposed to get back into the 90s all week.

You going to do all that cooking today? That'll make the inside hot too.
She could set the pots and skillets on the pavement or the hood of the car.

Thanks.

Any clue as to the reason why?

He seems to have a great deal of bladder inflammation. When I took him in a few weeks ago, his bladder was hard as a rock and the size of a golf ball, they had to do surgery to open him and clear everything. He has had blood in his urine since that day basically. But he was improving, urinating on his own. I changed his food to help with formation of crystals/stones, and he's been on 3 medications at home.

This morning, I got up and did my usual routine and when I called him to come eat, he didn't come, so I knew something was wrong. I took him to vet and today, his bladder is hard as a rock again and the size of a TENNIS BALL! Poor guy. Anyway, they are not sure why it isn't improving, but there is a fairly new surgery that may be what we do next where they go in and remove his penis and basically turn him into a girl.

On another note.. I let the teenagers go out and free range when I let the big girls out yesterday evening. They immediately flew all over the place to get as far away from the big girls as they could. LOL!

Here's a few pics, any guesses on what the two black girls could be mixed with? (These are my two that were supposed to be Swedish Flower - and well - they aren't.) I'm thinking Black Australorp may be in them?

Hope they are able to fix him up for you. Will you have to change his name if they do that?

His name is Angel - so maybe it will be more fitting since everyone thinks he's a girl based on his name anyway.
