This afternoon I have been getting the ducks in before the first storm and now back out for a while. They have shade, but not good storm protection in the day pen. New pen will be better.

My ducks are even out in the hail.

...

I'd wait until the check cleared, before shipping it out.
Wait till the check clears to dye or invest in contact lenses. Poor little goat.

Now it's saying 102 Guess I didn't let it update. Humitiy which actually feels more than what they are saying is only 16%
I'm usually at the high end for heat index. I feel blessed today. 87 right now. But the dewpoint is 75 so it is still miserable. 68% humidity.
The next 10 days are supposed to be cooler but with storm chances each day. high of 89 every day and low of 70-75,
I just saw the soil temperature 2" below grade is 80F. That's perfect germination temperature for watermelon, peppers, beets, cucumbers, turnips and carrots.

No wonder carrots don't start for me. Only time they did I had them under glass.
Shipping hen is $45 in California includes box. She's 6-8 weeks old.

I'd say go for the hen. It may be one of your few opportunities.

Actually, carrots sprout well from 50-85F. 76F is optimal daytime soil temp for maximum carrot production. They should sprout in 6 days at that temperature.

Might as well be in a swimming pool with that humidity

You don't know the half of it. When it is around 40, that's low for us.

Seriously thinking about her.
Ugly on the humidity. When I lived on the coast for a semester I can remember fog dripping out of trees. Sheets never felt dry. Nor did I after shower. I don't miss that.

Guess who just got call ducks! I did! Someone dropped off 5 at the feed store and a friend and I are going to take a few each! So much for not getting ducks!!
