@PensmasterWow 5 toes
No I missed the post about lax regulation on Altsteirers. My computer or phone isn't giving me all tags.
Here's the post about what I read on an Austrian chicken forum.

Due to the smaller size.Bantams will typically hatch a little earlier then LF.
I have no idea. Perhaps cause they think I'm such a cranky old man they don't want to acknowledge.Whew, thought I would do some quick catching up, then slowed down when I noticed a person needing help. Then, I noticed something else, and I have to wonder..CC, why in the world don't you have your BYC Educator Badge yet? Ey? You are very helpful. I see all of you have been helping along.
Now, I can actually help with a small comment. I agree with Chaos on the bantams usually hatching early! lol..there. I really do know a bit on hatching those bantams though, I have hatched my fair share of silkies and bantam cochins. Love the silkie.
Going to be a torcher for the next 5 days here! Out I go to water things down, I mean really make it muddy, for the chickens under the apple trees.
The last week of incubation, the embryos will be generating a lot of heat on their own.I've actually had them .. hatch..on day 18! Like I said, I've hatched silkies for yrs. and this happens every now again..did I notice that my temps had gone up a bit through out the incubation period..yes. :)
Oh, and I do keep really good record of the time they are due to hatch.
I've noticed if I have eggs due over a week apart on opposite sides of a still air incubator, the temps will be 1 to 2 degrees different from one side to the other.
You can cluster eggs up to the first 15 days but after that, given the proper incubator temperature, they're better off with some distance between them so they can shed some of that heat they're generating.
