Stated like a lifelong crappie man.

Pleasantly surprised this evening when I went to lock up. For the 1st time since I put the 7/2 chicks outside, I didn't have to catch any by hand or net them to get them into the coop; 5 of the 6 were already in, and the last one was right in front of the door. 'Til now, they'd go part way up the ramp, but jump off & pile up in a corner, content to spend the night on the ground if I'd let them. No more nightly Great Chicken Roundup.
Quote: Pretty much right. 50 years ago on July 16th, I fished for Crappie from morning 'til time to meet my soon-to-be bride at the alter.
I'll share my quotable quote of the day from Mark Twain.
“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts.
Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.”
I have a thought (ouch!). While the run is being re-wired, I think it makes sense to have a load of gravel brought in. Rather than having to shovel it up, and bring it inby the wheel barrel full, I can have it brought close, and just shove it in through the open sides.
The drawback is that there is a lot of soil in there from all the compost over the last several years.
I would need to work in the rain to get the soil loosened and out first. Is it worth it?
Nice black crappie.
People ship eggs all over the country/world. I sent eggs to AZ several months ago, they hatched great.
Once they're on the plane, it doesn't matter how far it is.
Truckloads are always easier.
Crappie fishing is every bit as addicting as chickens. If I had all the money I've spent on can't-miss Crappie lures, boats, and gas to get to them, I'd be a rich man. I've driven to Santee-Cooper in SC, Kentucky Lake, and more times & locations in WI than I can count, plus most of the local ponds.I told the kids. They are excited to try again.
