Congratulations to Kristin Armstrong. She won the women's cycling time trial (30km) by almost 6 minutes. She'll be 43 tomorrow and 8 years older than the next oldest woman. Also the second oldest person to ever win a bicycle race in the Olympics. It's her third gold in the event after coming back from retirement twice.

I almost drowned it. I just couldn't help the thrill of the idea of practicing for a raccoon. Yes, they do like to hiss. Heaven forbid they get caught doing something wrong! Hmm. The cat really does belong to that family. LOL! Did you drown yours?

I have but I didn't have any idea where they belonged. Letting house cats roam around here (or most places) is hazardous to the cats. We have coyotes, foxes, bobcats, mink, raccoons and lots of speeding cars, not to mention traps. I figure if it is someone's cat and it doesn't return home, then they get another cat and let it roam, then they're just stupid.

No, I sure haven't, but I will. My guess is they're more expensive than the pneumatics.

They are probably more expensive but if just getting started, one wouldn't need to invest in a compressor, hoses, nor need electricity to run the compressor. You can carry it into the outback and frame up a building.

I can't say that I fully understand the advantage of a nailer, other than speed. They use what....6d or 8d nails? I normally use 10's. Like you, I prefer screws, but then you're talking some $$

Speed and accuracy. No more bent nails. I bought a shed kit from Lowe's. Many of the framing boards were bowed beyond use, which I had to replace. The nails, while sized properly were soft, cheaply made and I assume Chinese. We bent as many nails as we successfully drove. It was like trying to drive wire into wood. I told my son to stop and I rented that cartridge gun. I had a compressor but after considering climbing on the building dragging a hose, I opted for this. I prefer screws too but mostly for ease of removal. Nails are stronger though.

Worked on my coop and back yard onder the August sun, it was a killer! Worke that normally take me 2 ouer took me 4 , and still didn't finish it! I HATE SUMMERS!

I hate heat too but humidity makes it even worse.

When baling hay for the first time when I was a kid, I made the mistake of taking my shirt off. I never made that mistake again. The chaff sticks to your sweaty body and it is miserable.

Doesn't it cool down at night? Whomever comes out first.

If it is hot here during the day, it doesn't cool down at night. If it is in the 80s in daytime, it is a comfortable 70s at night. If it is high 90s or 100s daytime, it never drops out of the 80s at night. Add to that the humidity and nights aren't even comfortable.

I wouldn't mind distributing the neighbors...over a very wide area; wide enough that I couldn't see or hear them

I'm fortunate to have good and quiet neighbors. Except for the traffic.

Stupid cat!

I think when people hear me discuss cats, they think I don't like them. Actually, I think they are amazing animals and wouldn't hurt a house cat. Feral and free roaming cats are another story.

I have never said that it is a good option for ME! We had touday 33C and 72% And what is the difference between eating a linx ( I saw a program that it is being eating by hunters in Alaska ) or a racoon and a cat?

My broody insists on kicking out eggs and taking new eggs, I candled the one she kicked out yesterday and see veining in it (after only 3 days!)...stuck it back under her. If I keep seeing veining in the ones she kicks out, should I just put them in the incubator so I can give her the chicks when they hatch? Or you think she senses something wrong with them and I should just let her kick them out?

I am laughing so hard right now. I candled my eggs this morning..... well, I was hoping a bit of them would be infertile so I wouldn't have to deal with too many chicks. Guess what? ALL BUT ONE WERE ALIVE. Why couldn't this have happened with my 1st hatch??

The dud was a green egg. All of the brown & sultan crosses are alive.

There's still two weeks for stuff to go wrong.....But if all continues this way, Imma gonna need to find homes for a LOT of chicks.

Ok for any that know her Junbuggena pointed me here... I grew up 60"s and so on
we had a farm here in Washington state started getting chickens as me and my 2 friends
father and son all bought this wonderful home we have with 3/4 of an acre
now find myself not knowing how to do this stuff with incubators and very great looking rooster
of f1 olive egger and 9 easter egger pullets 8 barred rock 1 olive egger pullet
