Looks like they all left...people, not chicks :P

Hi Whites. Yeah been busy doing nothing really. Chores and all. Here's pic of electric zapper with hornet.

700

Going to make a dump run with neighbor soon. Was going to let him do it on his own but I found out he slipped and fell hurting his arm on his first week of vacation. He has a dump trailer but even so things can get jammed up and he's in no shape to do that.

RECAP 8/12
... CC has a goat hiding in his oven, MC is a guest,...
Excellent recap and the goat was good. I think I'll make some Jalisco style birria with the rest.
When you write it like that, it seams like we live in a very disturbing reality. ......

A condensed version of our disturbing reality that makes my life seem really disturbing.

The temp is 99.9° And the humidity is 39.

So don't event candle tomorrow to see if they are alive?
It doesn't matter at this point. They'll either hatch or they won't.

If I say, "candle if you must" I'm going to get in trouble.

Benny is right though. The chicks should be fine. They will be out in a few days, and you won't even remember the oopsie.
My embryo executioner (aka little giant incubator) is at it again. I had 18 eggs due to hatch on the 30th. I checked it yesterday and the temp was 106.9 F. I'm not expecting any to hatch.

I needed help, but no one was around.

Goodie! You caught another cat!!!!!

I guess I said that somewhere else. Yes, they do. But in my mind, they are not going to be ripping apart HW cloth to do it. Nor climbing on top of the run to see if they can get in.
But you still have raccoons that can climb anything.

Oh my goodness!!

Please don't tell me the fish ATE the duckling...... I couldn't watch......
Ducklings get eaten by fish all the time.
A big muskie can eat a full grown duck.

Phil see from 6:06 to 7:56 in this clip! You will get an idea how you can combine Ducklings anf fishing!

I love the bald eagle stealing the guys catch. Also the cat catching the lure.
Thanks for posting.

Culture, my friend...culture, and what goes against your personal beliefs, limits, and sensibilities.
Right. It's just what one gets used to.
Variety is the spice of life.

A duck is huggable, Most people don't hug fish.
A horse is a work animal, and we have shows to show off talent, strength and beauty. Oxen work too, and are not exactly food for most.
I had another thought, but then I started thinking about coffee, and lost it.

Not a joke. It is how we decide.
We do eat lambs and calf. I don't but...
The chicken we eat is also babies at 9 weeks average (Perdue and Tyson). They let the smaller ones go to ten weeks.
More like 6 weeks. Cornish game hens are Cornish/Rocks that are 3 1/2 weeks old. No wonder they don't really have any flavor till you put spices on them.
In the 1910 a broiler was 2 pounds at 120 days. By 1990 they reached 5 1/2 lbs. in 50 days.
More importantly, it took 5 lbs. of feed for a pound of gain. Now it is 1.9 lbs. of feed per pound of gain thanks to 100 years of nutrition research.
Broilers gained 8 grams a day in the 1920s. They gain over 50 grams a day today.

So it is totally SUBJECTIVE! In this case nobody can tell nothing about it!
In my ayes:
The only criteria is not to use any aninal, or animals parts that come from endangered wild animal.
And ofcorse never to inflict unnecessary pain, or to abuse animals.
Agree 100%. Especially the endangered animal part.

I am catching nightly with the dog's dry food. Go figure. It works better than meat.
good plan Thanks for the idea.

i have 4 free rangers, they are free 24/7
How long have they been in the wild? I assume they sleep in trees?

Hi kiki! She posted a zillion smacks & crashed the thread.

they have been 'free' since the bear ripped the door off my coop in April i think- so only a couple months but it saves me a ton on feed,, they sleep in my barn rafters, i did have an amazing brown leghorn that would roost in the trees at least 40' up,

i love real keyboards and DESKTOP computers, not a laptop

Sorry I bailed, hubby pestered me enough about my sinus infection that I went to Urgent Care for it. Really fun using 6 boxes of tissues in 4 days. How is your build going? I must have missed updates.

Right with you on the lil Giant Bator. I tape the heat/humidity sensor so it hangs from the lid, then I have to turn the darn thing down since it runs hot. Think I may shop first a bigger better one for next year and use this on for a hatcher especially with quail. On a side note over an inch of rain here today! One brain dead Guinea is staying out in it buckwheating her head off while my one Brahma hen is out digging in the run puddles between the downpours. Silly girl loves standing water.
