So I did a dry run with the bucket incubator. The Christmas light rope had the temperature at 120 before I shut her down. Definitely has possibilities. @mlm Mike @Sally Sunshine And others

all done, time for vodka?
:gig

First time to do meaties too, and all that deer sausage, burger and two turkeys, tons of liver, heart and tongue.... Thank goodness the only thing that went bad is the fish. At least the older sons, wives and my mom and dad ate very well and cheap for a week lol.

You guys are making me paranoid about cocci. However, now that the babies are three weeks old, I am not really too worried. Free ranging is definitely a plus when it comes to all this rain. They don't spend time in mud, and the coop has time to dry out from the wet they bring in in the evening and when laying.

oh I lied!!! the liver went bad!!! dad made the pack that remained frozen the others he cut up and fed to the catfish at the gun club ponds

we know now what bait we should use! lol it was well over 20 lbs of beef livers!

these are two month olds, and yes confined in a run. but I cant let them free. The hawk just wont go away. He dont touch the big ones, but if those are out I know they are gonners

sweet

I dont think bug zappers will be enough to keep these things at bay

Bats I do have, I would love to make bat boxes, I wonder if I could use skid wood that isnt treated for them?

Bat boxes don't work here. Neighbor has tried them several times. He has even gathered poop from the bats here and put them in the boxes. Tried to mimic the same areas mine bats are in to no avail. They really like the breezeway between the two barns. And unfortunately inside the barn as well.

If the bugs are really bad put a light out away from your area and leave on at night. Bats will do the job. I used to leave the barn light on for them. Always see bats flying through.

But at least they are stronger. That's a plus, right? :hide
Eh'. I'm going to be calm. No sense borrowing trouble. They are pretty darn dry considering all the rain. Heck, they are dry even if it weren't raining.
My yard doesn't flood, we haven't had much of the nasty heat and humidity, the heat we had was nowhere near as bad as people an hour away. Even the storms that have come through have not been as bad here as many others. I know that I am a very blessed person. Weather wise and otherwise!

That was a very full freezer. Mine has 32 chickens so now I'm checking morning and night.

My X lives about 200 yards away, we counted well over 300 bats coming out of our house one night, its a rough cut hemlock sided home, they were living inside our walls. I could have sold guano

They lived in the north side of the home.

So I may be able to do a version of that siding

Quote: yes but please keep watching poop and tails, if tails start dipping and they look distressed at all start treatment. All the supply places around here are sold out of corid and sulfa meds so dont wait to get what you need, order online or something and always have that stuff on hand.
