I can't seem to force the foot straight..... Does it matter if it's a sheer, plastic or fabric one? I think I did it wrong because I was worried about the sticky part and put fabric between the foot and bandaid ... I realize the ridiculousness of that now. Gonna try again.

The height of pipping is an indication

of weight loss during incubation.

If weight loss was insufficient,

the air cell remains small and the

chicks are forced to pip high. Some

chicks will not be able to pip at all

and will drown inside the egg. The

correct height for pipping is roughly

at half, or just above half, the height

of the egg (see photo).

Thank you, it's starting to zip and chirping through the hole now, I'm glad I'm awake this time, I hated finding the other one dead! -I was ready to throw in the incubating towel!

Awesome!!! Yes either bandaid or electrical tape
I would put a bandaid on it ya Just use the sticky part on the bottom of the foot stick the toes straight and then put the other sticky end on top and push the sticky together between the toes let it on for three days then take it off. dont worry the bandaid will be fine on its foot sticky to sticky promise

you better have power tools or the airfare will cost me a fortune!
More power tools than you could shake a stick at.
Airfare? When you could drive it in 3 hours or less?
I know, it sounded more like vacation that way no?

Depends on how you feel about airports.

Well, it looks like either Pingu or Rockhead needs to be gone by next week.... After growing up and getting along terrific for all of their lives, including that morning, both cockerels were bloody when I got home today.
Rocky is a white silkie, he had so much dried blood on him that his front looked almost like a partridge silkie. Pingu's head and neck was so red he looked like his throat was cut!

Teenagers.....
