I went out to check on the little baby with the bad foot... Mama had pushed her away again and she is pretty cold :(. Also was laying flat on its back. What do I do? I brought it inside and have it in my incubator since that's the warmest spot (no brooder ready as I wasn't prepared to have any inside). Is it time for electrolytes? It's still breathing, not moving around though. :(

Are you sure you want to save her? Please know that I am only asking because it is a responsibility. She might be fine in a few days, and never need your special care again. Or, she may always need it.
As long as you were going to save her, she is fine in the incubator. She will not need a friend yet.

Yes, will do everything I can to save her. She's currently in my shirt. Every time I put her in incubator she flips over on her back. :(

Depends on how you feel about airports.
Love to travel, hate airports. Beam me up.

Yes, they are with the flock. Pingu is one of my EHAL cockerels, and Rocky was hatched in March.
Cockerels do better together when they're in their own pen without female accompaniment.

That's what I thought might be the case. Sounds to me as though they've reached the stage of maturity that they're viewing one another as competition for the hens
X2

Yea.... Not surprised Pingu was involved, but I didn't know rockhead even knew how to fight!

They don't need to learn, it is innate, instinctual.

Have another hen going broody. Might try moving her to quiet area after weekend. See if she'll take to the spot. The other three didn't
I find a dark nest with the identical nesting material they went broody on helps. If I move one to different nesting material, she won't sit. I swap out the nesting material and she goes right in.

I hear the new cell phones are terrific image takers

My 15 year old Olympus C-4000 finally bit the dust. After years of saltwater, rain, being dropped on the lens, etc., the drive finally can't extend the lens.
All my recent pictures are from my LG phone. Great pictures but I miss my camera. It was easier to plug the camera into the computer and automatically load pictures into a file.

I like that phone though. I wouldn't even need glasses to use it.
I am hungry for a bacon pretzel grilled cheese sammy and a pickle
Pregnant?

I agree, in the house the ac wont take it below 74 for some reason, guess its still ugly out
We keep ours at 85 during the day and 78 at night. $300 electric bills are a killer.

Our humidity was 45% and glad too have it. Up from17%
Our humidity is down to 81%. I don't think it has ever been 17%.

Nice job. Practice makes perfect.
It is definitely a 2 person job.

na just steak salt and pepper almost mooin is perfect for me
Same here. I like bacon and steak but not bacon wrapped steak. If the bacon gets cooked enough to be edible, the steak is overcooked. I usually end up throwing the bacon away. I don't like translucent bacon fat.
I cringe when I hear someone order a well done steak. I pity them for never having tasted juicy flavorful beef. If I had to eat well done beef, I'd be a vegetarian.

Thank you, I wasn't sure if I did it okay or not, but it's the best I could manage. She's snuggled up under mama now

They are supposed to be pure Silver Laced Wyandotte but I am thinking maybe they are not!
There are pics of SLW chicks on this page.

How do I delete posts
You can't. You can delete what you posted but the empty post will still be there.

Or you can find a nice town like mine. ...
I like my town - for now.
I feel safe here, people are friendly, it feels rural but close proximity to all urban amenities - especially food related. However, there are murders around town overnight - every night.

Mama (my other half) asked me last night what I wanted for christmas this year, I told her 3 20's would work ; she locked the out of the bedroom !! not sure why,

Yes do the electrolytes. Vitamins like Poly-vi-sol (without iron). Do you have anything for a probiotic like probiotic powder, yogurt or kefir?
If I have a weak one I like to bring them in so they have direct access to food and water. I add agave nectar to the water but sugar or honey will work. Just enough for an energy boost. What kind of food do you have for it?
