How long do I need to keep my broody and her chicks locked in the coop? I have them where they cannot get to the run portion right now (worried about them going up and down the ramp).

Also, how long to keep them separate from the whole flock?

When you have her separate, I think it's best to wait about a week from the start of hatching. At least two days after the last egg hatches. She will keep them safe. Add them together then.

Duckling found an empty dove egg in the coop. I accidentally crushed it.

Don't know, I free range and have never separated, everyone has plenty of room and hiding places.

Btw, Duckling was helping clean the coop.

I have a theory that the midlife crisis that many men experience araound the age of 40 is based on this mechanism. Ouer brain is Adjusts to resolve problems MOST men araound the age of 40, have solved the major challenges and problems of life. You have your companion for life, you have your own place, you have a stady income and your kids are not so little. and when there is no big challenge in the real world you invent imaginary problems! And those are the basis of the crisis! I don't have numbers but l think that men that are struggling for stady incom don't

Suffer from mid life crisis as more Wealthy individuals. Or in other words when you are poor you don't have time for imaginary problems!

Isn't it more of the ability to buy the toys, a guy struggling finacilly might have the desire for the toys, just not the ability to buy them, then the midlife crises might be expressed in other ways?

hows your eggs today?

one just finished hatching a few mins ago. Still waiting on the other 2 to pip.

Congratulations! Good luck with the others.

Good morning everyone! :frow

Sally received a message yesterday that the power would be out in her area today, apparently the refrigerator, lights, and fans  are more important to hook to the generator than the hughsnet modem/router. @Sally Sunshine

good morning, thats unfortunate about the power, strange that they are doing that, i wonder what people without generators do, I'd be up the creak

Hi Liz!
Sally thinks it has to do with some construction going on, more notice would have certainly been appreciated.

:caf morning

Hi SilverHair!

In my opinion the crisis begins in the quastion :" OK what now? Is that life? Do I the same as I was? Am I still worthy? " The answer to
this question is the all spectrum of midlife men behavior! This quastion aren't been considered when you hav a mortgage on you head or a baby that have hear infection or just started growing teath!
