Quote: funny I did have a look on CL the other day to see if anything popped up, notta. I typically ASK on CL but I think its best to just get from lowes at this point, I do like the longer lengths and the free delivery though. I should get enough to do my house!

Cheapest option galvalume panels (non-painted). Cost would be $2.01 per ln ft. Our painted steel is $2.30 per ln ft

14x30 roof would require 20 panels (assuming it is two sided roof).
Non-painted = $562.80
Painted = $644.00

Pricing is for 20 panels @ 14’0”. Does NOT include trim, screws, or sales tax.

Due to location we could deliver at no charge.

Lead time is 2-3 days to get into our store. Maybe another 1-2 days to get delivered after that.

Thanks

Overall price doesn't sound too bad, but if you can find 14' panels, figure out what 20 of them would cost you. If hubby and/or the older sons could do the installation, safely, you'd undoubtedly save a bunch of money. Screws & tax I understand; no idea what the trim would be, unless he's including the strips that go under the panels as trim, which I doubt. Figure out how much the materials + tax would cost you; everything over that goes into Hess' pocket.

I doubt stores like Lowes or Home Depot will carry 14' panels in stock. If they do, great. If not, they can probably special order them for you. Wherever you buy the panels should be able to tell you what you need other than the panels; screws, the foam or fiber strips that go under the panels, the ridge strips for the peak, etc.

What kind of roof is on the building now? I used the same product on my deer blind, screwing it directly onto the plywood sheathing. If you take the existing roof off, down to the rafters, you'll have to put strips on top of the rafters, running the 30' length, in several rows (not sure how many, but I'd think 2' apart), to support the panels. If you go that way, you might want to use a couple of translucent panels (on both sides of the roof) of the same design...like on your deck roof...for natural light.

In the end it all depends on how your men folk feel about working 15' off the ground.
just a wood shed dont have plywood just strips to hold the steel on thats on it now. but it was rigged, not done perfect, it is a woodshed remember it was all recycled materials, its not that high about ten foot in the front and maybe eight or seven in the back.
Well, heck...that should be a piece of cake, then. Didn't realize, or forgot, it was your wood shed you were talking about. That height wouldn't even bother me, & I'm nervous when I walk on a thick rug.

Your guys should be able to knock that out in an afternoon w/o breaking a sweat, if there are no undetected problems hiding under the old roof.
yes piece of cake, I have done four roofs already and thats not including sheds and coops crap, I have yet to use this type of roofing though, but compared to having to carry shingles and plywood up on a roof, I think we got this in the bag lol. I have always been the shingle cutter with my scrap pc of plywood and square running from end to end lol. While the boys got to play with the nailer nd break their backs leaning over, I sat on the roof and cut

and barked orders like a woman does so well
I didn't include you on the roofing crew 'cause I wasn't sure your health would allow it. Happy to know you're all checked out on it.
Compared to shingles, this is super easy; just overlap the last panel with the new one, matching up the peaks & valleys, and screw away. I put the screws in the valleys; they're flat on the strips and it seemed right. Good luck with it.
it wont allow it unfortunately, you are correct and its killing me too. Thanks whties

Well, I haven't been to church in a while, so i'm going to take the kids to church. Wish me luck. four kids and me alone. I'll probably come home not remembering my own name. LOL

Hi

...
I hope this passes soon.
I hope you feel better soon.

One never knows what tomorrow brings.

You make me wanna fire up the incubators.
I have my last batch of eggs in the incubator due next Friday.
I think I'm done setting eggs till the new birds and the summer chicks start laying.
I have 3 pullets that are 20 weeks and 2 that are 15 weeks.
My next settings will probably be in November or December.
I did a head count in the last few days. Between adults, adolescents and chicks I have 35 females, 27 males and 8 chicks that hatched this week. That's 70 birds plus the eggs due in a week. I'm now out of space and need to make some decisions.
My toughest decision comes this morning. I think I desperately need to butcher a couple roosters. I have 10 males that are adults or near breeding age. That's too many for the 15 females of similar ages.
I have 3 adult roosters that were the remnants of predator attacks. They weren't my best roosters for various reasons but I've come to admire them. I have 2 more roosters that I sold 3 years ago and were returned to me a couple weeks ago. They've been blood tested and are at the end of their quarantine.
I think I'm going to butcher the 2 oldest roosters that have lived here for the last 2 years and replace them with the 3 year olds I had returned to me.

It's such a sad sad world now out there... Everyone is against one another and people don't have humanity anymore. They are out for themselves most of the time.. I'm so glad I live in a small town and pray that God watches over them each and everyday. All of the hate and people going against what the Bible says will pay in the end. I pray for the families of the ones who passed and the ones that survived because they still live will the sickness/ terror/sadness/madness/ anxiety/depression every single day. As we enjoy our lives and get to live another day and hatch child/ducks or all of the other fuzzy wuzzys we need to pray for our nation and world.. I love you all and love this sight and I'm glad God put you all in my life.

Should be out in under 24hrs. Once it starts to zip that should take less then 60-90 mintues but typically less.
Should be but they can take much longer.
Perhaps I only know that because I leave them in and don't help them.

Wow, I am new the this group and surprised by how fast it moves. Keep on Cluckin.
Strap yourself in and hold tight.

I have two battery ones that work well. The Chicken Gaurd and a DawntillDusk. They both open and shut well. The DTD has a great door you can order to use with either. If you can afford the Chicken Gaurd, it has some features that make it very easy to set and adjust and open/close manually with just a button press. Both of mine are the mid range ones that can operate on a set time or by solar sensor so I can decide. Automatic doors are a big relief.
What do they have to keep something from raising the door. Is there a locking mechanism?

So who likes the breeding project I will be doing
Do you mean the serama rooster and a frizzle hen?
I've had frizzles. One hatched lots of other hen's chicks for me. I have no idea what breed she was but she looked like a Delaware cross.
Like I said, they'll be mutts.
Here she is as a chick.

This is her with chicks she hatched.

Here's a Jaerhon frizzle that got killed by neighbor's dogs.

I've lost complete faith in the human race lately. The more crap that I hear about our government doing or not doing just angers me. I hope that somebody wakes up and can fix the problems that we face. And that some of these people that vote realize what they're voting for and not just voting for free stuff.
Do people vote for free stuff or leadership?

Yes, I brought it to the vet and they told me the hen was gonna die. Then it got better by itself.
Sometimes they just have to work through it. Many things they can get really have no treatment.
