Silkies are true bantams, not diminutive, so they have no large fowl counterpart....
I'm not 100% sure if my silkies are bantam silkies, or regular ones. But, they don't seem very aggressive or pushy, so far at least.
...
I did some of that too. It's what I use to do best when I was on active duty![]()
Vets are so common here, there seems to be one on every corner. But, as you say, good avian vets are uncommon and those with poultry experience are rare as hen's teeth. I only know of about 6 in the entire metro area that work on poultry and only about 3 of those are considered good. That and they're all about an hour from my house. I would pass hundreds of others driving to them. The last time I had a sick bird and wanted to get it looked at was a Friday. I couldn't get an appointment till Monday. I told them I didn't think the bird would live through the weekend. They said I could bring her in and they would keep her under observation. I said, I can observe her here.Don't know about Frisco, but around here poultry vets aren't exactly a dime a dozen; mostly Fido & Whiskers; I have one that at least knows medication; whether she'd work on one is yet to be determined, as is whether I'd give her the opportunity....highly unlikely.
X2...
The chick can stay in the incubator up to 72 hours. Ideal is more 48.
Eggs 'can" hatch up to day 28. Give it two days (day 23 at least) and then start to get worried. Nature is unexpected. I don't feel comfortable with the opinion that a chick pops out on day 21 without fail, or it is too weak.
...
... I am having trouble sharing even with just Duckling. When her father uses my bathroom (or mother. She is gross too) I practically put on a Hazmat suit to clean!...
Are you sure you're counting days correctly? The reason I ask is the vast majority of eggs here and all the commercial hatcheries around the world which includes billions of chicks, hatch on day 21.X2, I've found that the ones that hatch a day late usually hatch the healthiest. If I run a higher temp and have them hatch on day 21, they have open navels. Day 22 hatchers are clean, quick, and healed. I'm thinking that's because I have an insanely fast pip to hatch time- Sometimes only 8 hours.
Germs belong to the world at large....
I clean my bathroom every 2-3 days because I can't handle sharing and the concept of germs that aren't mine. haha
Don't forget to clean under your fingernails after all that.Yeah, I know adults that smear.Worse is .. Okay, gross subject.![]()
I clean something almost daily. maybe even more than daily. With Clorox wipes on the tank, next to the Lysol. Spray cleaner in the cabinet behind that, and I swear I can't just wash my hands. The sink edge and inside get washed, and often the Q-tips come out to get the area behind the faucet.
I want to say I am not hard to live with. Never touch my towels, and you are fine. Actually, you must wash your hands properly. Before the nightmare began the last night, I remember my husband yelling about me making him wash his hands after using the bathroom. I was too preoccupied with keeping Duckling safe to worry about his habits. So IDK why washing his hands was on his mind. But apparently, I am a beast for reminding him to wash his hands after using the bathroom.

A roofer huh?funny I did have a look on CL the other day to see if anything popped up, notta. I typically ASK on CL but I think its best to just get from lowes at this point, I do like the longer lengths and the free delivery though. I should get enough to do my house!
yes piece of cake, I have done four roofs already and thats not including sheds and coops crap, I have yet to use this type of roofing though, but compared to having to carry shingles and plywood up on a roof, I think we got this in the bag lol. I have always been the shingle cutter with my scrap pc of plywood and square running from end to end lol. While the boys got to play with the nailer nd break their backs leaning over, I sat on the roof and cutand barked orders like a woman does so well![]()
I didn't include you on the roofing crew 'cause I wasn't sure your health would allow it. Happy to know you're all checked out on it.
Compared to shingles, this is super easy; just overlap the last panel with the new one, matching up the peaks & valleys, and screw away. I put the screws in the valleys; they're flat on the strips and it seemed right. Good luck with it.
You didn't ask me but I hope to get at least one rooster butchered today and then figure out which of these my wife wants to do.Good to hear. What's your high gonna be today?

Did the dove egg hatch?

She's leaning toward the Art Fair or the Zoo. But the Ribfest, Octoberfest and Irish fest sound good too.
