@Pensmaster

I got two broad breasted white poults Monday, broody didn't take them, they are huge.

They are in a brooder now.

I banded a few when I kept them; never heard a peep out of any of them. More humane than cutting them out IMO
We've always banded ours, too... but we've never had one fall to the ground and not get up either.

I would be worried if a goat foundered after something like that and probably get a vet to check it.

He didn't fall over and stay there. He can get up and walk around, he just is preferring to lay in the corner. I haven't made it out yet.

I don't know if hip displasia occurs in goats, like in dogs, but if it does, particularly if the rear end doesn't move along the same line as the front, it might be worth considering. It mostly occurs in heavy breeds, like GSD's & show type Irish & English Setters, and is genetic, being passed in specific lines.

It's gonna take me forever to catch up on reading all the posts but hope everyone is doing well. Miss you all-part of me felt good to be back to work and the other part felt useless on desk duty. Mri of the hand & wrist today-I had to lay on my stomach in superman position completely still for almost 2 hours while things were clanging all around me. The tech said nothing major jumped out at her on the image but hands are harder to read than brains????.... I guess we will see Friday. Part of me wants nothing to be wrong but the other part wants to find out whats causing this swelling and pain. I just want to get back to "normal"-whatever that may be for me

Hope everyone's hatching lots of babies and staying healthy. Waiting for dinner to be done for the hubby when he gets home later so I can crash for the night.

My friend hatched some eggs, 10 hatched and we're fine for 4 days, today 7 chicks suddenly started shaking and then died. This is all what she told me, I didn't see this first hand so I have no further details. On medicated chick feed in the brooder inside. What happened???
lots of things could have happened

From what I've read it can be normal for the buckling to act like this. If he doesn't seem better in the morning then I'll start to worry and find a place to take him. I did this one the exact same way I did the other boys in the spring, so maybe it's just him. They acted a little lethargic a day or so after the banding, and then were fine.

that he's back to himself at breakfast.

hope he's just being a baby and will be fine

@MotorcycleChick

I am pretty inexperienced at candling eggs - this should be 5 days, but is this egg a no-hoper, do you think? I'd be glad of some advice!
looks ok to me

There's lots of people that would laugh at you if you called me one of those

I'm hoping he was just being a little dramatic. Right before the banding he was springing up and over and all around.
