does it matter if a broody raises them and the broody is super people friendly? or... does it no longer matter once they are wild?

I am not sure. This is the first time I have had a broody. I still pick her up and she is very friendly, she does not mess around though if you go to pick a chick up she puffs up and calls to all of them and she gets mad mad mad. She doesn't care how much I pick her up. Crazy. She was okay with us holding them the first couple days, then she decided that was not okay.

itlll be worth it, you'll feel much better

Argh. I was going to try to order turkey feed, from TSC, and they don't have *anything*

http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/dumor-chick-starter-24-50-lb?cm_vc=-10005

This is the closest their website has, and I think I have to go into the store in person, to order it.

So, it looks like this 20% crumble starter feed, is what i'm stuck with. I'll need to figure out how to add extra grit/protein to the turkeys. I need to re-read the niacin on the bag, but I *think* it's okay for the ducks as is.

I need to get everything all organized this weekend, and push comes to shove, I just won't order the turkeys and ducks until next spring if I can't get everything set up in time for them to come next week.

Anyways. Just figuring it out since the requirements for ducks and turkeys are more complicated then keeping baby chicks alive and happy. haha
look at nutrena feeds, TSC stocks them and can order it for you

Good luck with that. Cinnamon helps lower it, and comes in capsules. Walking downhill lowers blood sugar too.
most movement and exercise help to lower it lol

They'll grow out of it! Once they start getting some indepence they'll learn they you are the food source and they'll love you too. Here's my last batch of littles:

They left mama and cane through the fence to see me!

The problem isn't being broody raised. In a brooder, you are always talking to them, touching them, and changing their bedding, food and water.

Good luck. What medication is it?

And a healthier diet is never a bad thing.... unless they want you to give up bacon.
LOL

Metformin...... Bacon will be on my diet.... Some anyway..... I'm gonna go the lower carb high protein high fiber route. I don't need to lose a bunch of weight.... Maybe 15 pounds tops.
But it's gonna be hard to keep sugar down while taking prednisone.
I take metformin, 1000mg 2x a day. If you have any kind of easily upset stomach, you'll lose 15lbs because it... makes everything run through you better than coffee until you adjust to it.

I take it to stabilize my blood sugar, and because I have infertility related to PCOS. I get blood sugar drops that spike me way down though, rather than up.
