Long! I spent over two hours trying to clean the big coop. It isn't great, but it is much better. I did what I could with what I had. The hens were mad that they could not lay their eggs inside, and the dog was mad that he could not get to me. The doves were getting annoyed that I was scaring their poor baby. I will see if the floor is dry enough to put down the straw in about an hour. How are you?

I'm hanging in there. I got sick last night, and still fighting off a fever... so I'm not my best today. I had to get up and feed the chickens, fix breakfast, then fix lunch and popped the breaker in the kitchen. I forget that if I run the washing machine, dryer, window AC unit, microwave and toaster at the same time, the fuse will blow. LOL Then, my toddler threw his sippy cup at his baby sister and traumatized her for a few minutes, and I finally got her down for a nap and my 5 year old and 2 year old are in the TV room with the door shut. I'm pretty sure they are destroying everything in that room, but you know what? Their dad can clean it up when he gets home. It's his turn. I've already cleaned the coops, kitchen 2x today, and bathed 2 children because he had to put noodles in his hair. I want to see pictures of your baby doves. I bet they change a lot from when they first hatch. My daughter has been carrying around this bug today as her new friend :

She even made me dish it up a plate of food at lunch time so I wouldn't hurt it's feelings.

Today's been pretty tame, compared to most days. My 12 year old is up to his old tricks... he has this thing in his school work books, that if he crosses out the date and changes it, he tries to pass off the old work as the new work like I'm so stupid I can't tell he does it.

It's NEVER worked.... but he always tries. LOL He has told meT in the past, that yes, he thinks i'm stupid enough to fall for it, and is waiting for it to work.

Only reason it feels rougher today, is the sickness thing. I'm not very good at being sick and my fever's been holding steady around 101 today.

I tried to build a rabbit hutch today, and realized that it would work great once the chickens are bigger, to let them eat outside with supervision, in the grass... but as an inside hutch it's a piece of crap... so back to the drawing board today to find a new bird house/chicken coop for the two chickens my daughter wants to keep in her room. I may end up getting like a ferret cage or something that's taller with levels if I can't find a rabbit hutch that will work. I theoretically could just let them have a dog crate, but she wants to be able to "watch" them too.

The things I do for my children. She already has a frog aquarium and a praying mantis on a stick living in her room.

She does. She absolutely loves the insects she finds here. Texas apparently really is an amazing place for a kid to grow up. She finds all sorts of things. I'm just glad she didn't ask to keep the stick bug she found. She's going to run out of room in her bedroom for places and jars for all her treasured bugs. What's funny is she actually goes bug hunting to find other bugs for her frogs, the praying mantis and whatever else needs to eat in there.
