@Sally Sunshine Hi! I hope you feel better soon. I wish we could help with the health stuff this winter, but at least let us know how we can pray. I will start now praying for patience for
Steel nothing :lau

It is bigger than 2 eggs omelet!

Unless the 2 eggs are ostrich eggs.

HEY NOW!! I never said she should do THAT!!

I don't think I should be getting important stock or rare breeds just yet, I'm still a newbie with a coop more holes than not, remember??

Hmm.... I feel an Idea growing in my head.....

Oh yeah... Send them to Chaos!!!

I know you didn't say that, I did.

Or moa eggs!

Do you know what species of conure? it looks a little like a green cheeked. The species would be more specific because some are from as far south as Patagonia but as a general rule, 45 is likely too cold. 60 is a minimum for most conures but some may be able to handle 40 for brief periods. I don't think a nightly temp in that range is a good idea.
A bigger problem may be that the temperature shouldn't change more than 15F in a 24 hour period.

I have some low wattage heat pads that are brand new but not warm enough for my purposes. I can send you one.
They're about 14" across and in a red cloth cover that you could make your own snuggle.
PM me if you want one.

As far as heat lamps, I too like the ability to switch and it looks much safer. I also have those thermoplug outlets in each coop on at 32 off at 45
I think I will order two and check them out, the price sure as heck beats the alternatives. The heat pads I looked at for the puppy basket all have auto shut off!!! so during the whelp I have to constantly check to see if they are still on. Where do you find the kind without this new safety feature? I havent looked into it yet, but with two girls being bred as we speak I will need them for them as well because its November whelp and its cold in my house at times.

I think you are right, the green cheek although we never really figured it out for sure. The tag on his leg, is that searchable anywhere online? I would love to buy it from you should you not use it! I can use it during the night until I get the livingroom warm for everyone.

I do not use shavings for pheasants no, they eat them. I use straw. I am low on hay or I would have that in there, I really need to make some runs out for a few things. I have newspaper though

And if you ever doubted people like you just note how many times people asked about you, Sally got one this weekend, and Liz got two. I have been out 3.5 days and people sighed with relief lol.
@ChickenCanoe While you wait on the root stuff and can't use chemicals the old timers say chop up a cabbage and flush it once a month.
@Pensmaster How goes the broody? Any more?

I found a squirrel jawbone in the woods the other day, and I want to maybe glue it on a jar. Which color? Or maybe something different?

I would love to see @daxigait
carry on the line. There is much more to the eggs than one would think, she is six and still laying six beautiful big eggs a week, unless its her down time.  She is a nice big female as well.   HOWEVER I am no longer NPIP certified.  and she requires that, even for hatching eggs I think.
Does KS or OK or AR not require NPIP? If so I can get you an address close to me there.
