Morning. Took you long enough..............
EEs and the RSL should do very well for youtotally jealous of all your eggs.
I'm lucky to get 1 per day, maybe 2 on a good day.
my EE's need to finish growing up and start laying.
I got my red sex linked, so hopefully they lay well....
Morning. Took you long enough.
Let's see, we had an adult flock of 8 in the spring, but we lost most of them for various reasons over the summer, so 2 laying hens, and 1 roo left. My RIR lays most days, my cochin has gone broody 2x, and has laid sporadically since she started laying. How many birds do you have?

Quote: Thank you. It's always good to have someone thinking of you, as long as those thoughts are positive; I have enough of the others to last me the rest of my life.![]()
Morning. Congrats on the chick. How many more to go?
Any chance if you get a surpluss of eggs, you'd send a few for my incubator if I paid shipping? I really, really love my cochins. A few bigger ones would be fun to throw into our flock ;o
Woohoo!
I'm drinking some now since I woke up at 2 with my first hatch from the bator of Mottled Javas. Will need it today!!
EEs and the RSL should do very well for you

So next year you should be swimming in eggs. I gave my duck eggs to my sister-in-law to try as well since she's allergic to chicken eggs. Hopefully she can eat them.Let's see, we had an adult flock of 8 in the spring, but we lost most of them for various reasons over the summer, so 2 laying hens, and 1 roo left. My RIR lays most days, my cochin has gone broody 2x, and has laid sporadically since she started laying.
MY EE is a flock of 2 roo's and 8 hens. They are nearing 4 months, I fully suspect eggs between nov-jan, (Living in Texas, we don't really have winter, so as long as they get enough sunlight, I would expect a few eggs until spring on and off?)
Then, we have the red sex linked batch (6 hens, 1 roo) I bought because I realized that the other group of hens, were all broody wenches, and after my cochin has gone broody, realized we wouldn't get too many eggs if they all went broody at the same time, it's a batch of 3 polish crested, 2 blue cochins 1 black cochin, and a red sex linked.
I got some more silkie eggs coming 24, to start a silkie flock.... basically, the EE and my red sex linked, will be my "eating eggs" for the family, because i'm assuming my other birds are too broody to really be regular layers... but they might prove me wrong.
After that, I think I'll be going with turkey and duck eggs, since I personally am allergic to chicken eggs, and I want to eat eggs too![]()
