Are any of you into photography enough to tell me what I will need to get a good photo of the total solar eclypse that will happen when we are planning to be in the Tetons next August?
Night photography is tough but you will need a camera that allows a high ISO, a really fast lens and a really steady tripod in my opinion...

Good morning everyone!

I like stuff.

I feel for you....I've had issues with the following in my coop: black snakes, raccoons, opossums, weasels, foxes and Hawks. I really hope this works and please update us. I've never tried the actual hardware cloth and would be interested to learn more.

God bless,
Glory
dogs had a opossum up the back porch post the other morning 5am. Pellet gun was his weapon choice lol

Aweee! Good someone else who's not afraid to protect theirs by any and all means necessary! Mine is my 22. Rifle works best but pistol does well. 12 gauge is another go to.

Morning everyone.

Broody ended up with 6 chicks. Very protective of them I might add. Going into feed and water and she went for me flying up and hit my hands. Didn't draw blood but sure surprised me. Will be more attentive of that this am. In the mayhem of her trying to get me one of the chicks went under the nesting buckets causing her to fling dust and chicks every where while trying to get the chick out. Here they are

As to the eggs, 2 had tiny cracks, I put liquid bandages on them both. There's a total of 28 eggs. I don't know how to tell if they are fertilized or not, other then putting them into the incubator and waiting a week. Since the incubator has wet rocks in it atm, the humidity is around 60% I can live with that as long as the temp stays okay.

It's around 98ish, so i'm trying to get it up to around 100 so I can just leave it be and put the eggs in before bed tonight. I'm going to leave them alone over the weekend, then start turning them on monday. that way I give the air cells the best possible chance, and hopefully won't loose too many babies in the process.

She send me whites, blues, lavanders, buffs, splashes, and a few mystery color ones, that she doesn't know what they are I think I got maybe 2 black eggs, I'd LOVE a black silkie, so crossing fingers that one hatches! ;o
itll dry out shortly

Yep, that stuff. It's not always as pretty in real life. I picked up a piece of dr pepper bottle on my last trip, I'll take a pic later.

I AM NOT A BUILDER OF ANY SORT but I toyed with the idea of making a big rock tumbler out of a washing machine drum or something similar, and trying to make my own sea glass.
thats an idea i have toyed with before

@Sally - I posted some of the candled egg air cells... there's a total of 28, but the majority look like the ones I shared, there's a couple obvious saddle ones, jiggled ones, I lost 2 eggs to being broken open completely, and 2 with minor cracks that I fixed with liquid bandage (a pip hole style crack, so maybe salvageable.)

Any personal suggestions on shipped eggs besides the upright thing? I was planning on turning them starting on monday, putting them into the incubator tonight before bed and just leaving them alone over the weekend.

Since there's so many of them, I was going to candle them in small chunks every few days. (like around day 5, 6 7, candle each line seperately, remove any that are dead, etc.)

What's the best way to do a bigger batch?
