@Gloryjasmine

Down here in Texas, they have open season on pigs. We haven't gone hunting yet, but I may try to talk my husband into it, because the meat sounds great. Although, the ones here are so nasty vicious, you'd want to use a gun.

Yes in Ga as well. Because they're considered a nuisance. It's also the same in SC. Idk where there would be an actual season? Ohhhh you have to talk HIM into it?? Hmmmm what's your number? I'll help you!!! Lol yes we always carry a loaded pistol. We have only had to take out a few this way that were out of control.

Lol yes I do!! Know why? Cause I'm the same way!! Hee hee!
Ohh thanks lol. Actually,I was deer hunting. So I had me trusty 270 with me. No stickin a deer fer me...well afterwards when I gut it. Yea...I actually dig the gutting part. My hub is grateful for that.

BantyChooks:
Hahaha! Nevah! Lol you just reminded me of when there is a noisy squirrel (aka-tree rat) in my vicinity. Sometimes in the tree my deer stand is in! Imagine those things actually dropping on your noggin while trying to be quiet?!!! Grrrrrrr! Lol

Quote: Yup! However,we do carry a gun for those"just in case" moments. Yes again! It's been established quite some time ago that I AM CRAZY!! Ha ha and proud! Yes I've seen the dogs get hurt. And that is why we always have a VET with us.
Looks like you've covered all your bases, then, as much as possible. I guess maybe you ain't so crazy after all

If nothing else, it must be a real rush. I'd like to bust one of those nasty beasts myself some day, but I'll do it from a distance with a rifle. Good that you took the small-racked buck out of your gene pool, too. Hope you never need that Vet

No lol! We use dogs to bay and then the other dogs hold them by their ears. When you hear the ungodly squealing YOU RUN YOUR ASK OFF!! You wanna get to that hog ASAP so those dogs don't get hurt. We run through briars thick as heck ,up hill or down hill ,through swamps ....you name it! One person grabs hold of the hind legs and flips the hog on their back. One person hold their foot down on the neck. And the third person sticks the hog in the lung/heart area so that it'll bleed out quickly. As someone else is pulling off the dogs. If the hog doesn't die quickly we will shoot it to end needless suffering. No reason for that mess. Glad you like!!

Met a paid hunter in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, he was hunting hogs that are destroying the habitat.

Here is the hog I stuck in Georgia,on my brother in laws land, about 2 months ago. Yes...I said stuck. We use knives. Here are the two bucks my husband harvested last week. We hunt here on our 24 acres. He got a huge 10 point and a very big 4 point. We usually do not take a buck less than 8 points but this boy was a biggin!! We also needed the meat. Very grateful to the Lord for His provision. I'm not posting a picture of my husband out of respect for his privacy. I didn't used to post myself but I do like to share about how God provides for my family. Thank you for your patience! Hope y'all like and if anyone else hunts,I'd love to see the harvests!!! God bless, Glory
The bucks I understand, but as far as the hog,...with nothing but a knife? You be one crazy lady, with way more guts than I'll ever have. You ever see what those tusks can do?

Yes it is one heck of a rush! I hope you do. Although I believe the rush is greater when using a knife.

Well,he would have eventually grown up rack wise. They aren't born with that many! Lol jk no but he would've continued to gain points on his rack. Thats why we usually let anything less than an 8 go. So that they can get bigger racks and bigger bodies. But the 4 was big. Worth taking now. Now,if there's a buck with only one side of antlers or some obvious defect,we will eliminate that gene. Not healthy to let that continue. Do you deer hunt?

@SuzieMaree Welcome! I missed your conversation between all I had to do and catching up. I have Charangus too. I am still trying to decide exactly what percentage of each I want. I tend to keep 1/2&1/2 or 3/4 on my cows and breed to straight Angus. What percentage do you shoot for? I like the breeding cows to be a little higher in Charolais so I never worry at calving.

We are not so scientific... most of our beef cattle are originally bred out of brown swiss... so they are big and they have no trouble calving. We also have some Murray Grey.. not sure if you have them in the states?? if that is where you are! bit like and angus, only soft grey :)

Ohhhh beautiful there!! Use to live in Bryson City. Gorgeous!
Yes they are! That's why there is no season on them. You may take however many whenever. Because they're such a nuisance. They can rut up and destroy an area of land in no time and I do mean no time!!!!

Night my friends hope you all sleep good and get rested. To all whom are sick or hurting my God heal your body's in Jesus name Amen

You are so kind. Thank you for this. I have a severe back injury and my husband as well. Thank you for taking the time out to pray for us ALL. Thank you Lord for your healing to come for us all. And pour out your blessings upon everyone here. Amen
