Wrong thread, but did you know "breastmilk soap" is a thing? LOL

I had a 7 foot cubic freezer full of milk, and I was joking with my husband he should make soap out of it, so I didn't have to just throw it all away when it got too old to use for the kiddo.

(I ended up tossing it because I didn't have time to do anything with it, but apparently, it's also good for your garden.)

Yup! We have become so open about breast-feeding anymore, that all of the uses for the milk is staggering.

I keep fresh milk in the fridge for my toddler. My kids don't think twice about the milk containers in there. They prefer almond milk, but I know my husband has stolen some for his coffee before when he ran out of creamer.

I grew up with nursing mom's and it never seemed weird to me to have milk in the fridge. It wasn't until I was online, on mom forums that I learned how much people bottlefed and how weird people felt about nursing.

True story : my mom went on vacation to Hawaii with my dad when I was only a few months old. My aunt breastfed me while my mom was gone, because my cousin was 3 months older and she was nursing her, too.

I've also nursed 2 children who weren't mine, when baby sitting, with permission of their mothers. ;)

@BantyChooks

My broody finished her hatch with 9 chicks surviving.

I have 6 eggs in the incubator seeing if they are fertile yet. :)

Also, my birthday is next month.

I'm jealous now. Do you have room in your suitcase for me?
Have you ever been to Chichen Itza or swam in cenotes?
I haven't been there in years and I'm sure it is built up much more now.
I'm a big Mayan history buff. We've been to Chichen Itza, Coba, Tikal Tulum and smaller sites in Isla Mujeres and Cozumel.
I'm all about cheap vacations and we could go there for much less money and better water than a trip to Florida.
We used to go to either the Yucatan or the Nayarit/Jalisco area of the Pacific coast a couple times a year.
There was a charter company that would fly out of St. Louis to Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Cozumel, Cabo and several Caribbean destinations. When the date came close and there were still seats available they would dramatically drop the price to fill the seats. I would check for sales all the time and we'd fly at the drop of a hat. We would never have been able to make the trips otherwise. Sometimes we would stay some nice places using the savings in airfare but sometimes we'd just go the whole trip on the cheap.
Once we got flights to Cancun for $25 each and I rented a Mayan hut on the beach with no electricity or running water for $50 per night. Then we'd go to Mayan towns inland or to Tulum for very cheap meals.
Usually we'd rent a house. One of our favorite places was Tankah Bay. That's where the Mayan hut was but also nicer houses just steps from the water and uncrowded is an understatement.

If you get there, try dinner at Casa Cenote. It's a huge, breezy, thatched roof open air restaurant right on the water.
My son and I went deep sea fishing there and they cooked the fish for us for dinner.
It's across the road from a cenote where you can scuba dive and go under ground all the way into the sea.
El Gran Cenote is awesome too.

Thanks!

These are the ONLY productive thing this year, and I don't see more than two. Corn is wimpy this year and the beans didn't even try.

Are they in a sunny spot? Did you have a lot of cloudy weather?

Garden is in the south of the property so plenty of light. It's mostly due to the weeds; we had more weeds than garden this year and it darn near choked out everything. Next year we're laying out weed sheeting and the corn we get this year will instead be saved for seed.

Next year i experiment with Aztec Black corn, pinto beans, and either butternut squash or pumpkins again. The French beans turned out to be a bush variety and so don't work for Three Sisters, but pintos are climbers. I'm also going to be mulching and trying to grow wild strawberries.

Edit: Also, I just cleared out the coop and run so I can show you guys tomorrow just how much of a POS our coop is and what the inside of the run is like. We haven't put out the hay bales we use for the run in the winter when it gets muddy, but it's nice weather so you can see what it normally looks like.

Not that it matters, but I did a quick candle on the remaining egg. It's still alive, and no closer to an internal pip. But, since it's still moving around, I'm crossing fingers it will decide to hatch itself in the next 2-3 days.... the issue is the new chick that's hatched is running over the top of it non stop, and the non-hatched egg, was the worse of the air sacs and is in a upright container. LOL

I'm going to have to move the littler bugger as soon as she/he dries off more to the brooder. She's quite happily chirping in there everytime I go in there now. Apparently she had a little nap and now she's full of spunk.
