Incubation-do I have the steps right?

Is that temperature and humidity with calibrated thermometer and hygrometer or based on incubator?? 50% humidity is way too high IMO especially first 18 days.

I agree, but I do live on the coast and have really high ambient humidity. I run my incu dry for the first 18 days.

For hatching the humidity should stay below 70%

60% - 70% is a good range for the last 3 days.

Also my nurture right 360 was about one degree low according to a calibrated thermometer placed at the level of the eggs so as others have stated make sure you check it. We just want you to have a good hatch, Good luck...

I have been keeping the eggs overnight regardless of whether they arrive in the morning or the evening...

Hi backyard chickens. I’ve begun my egg hatching journey. I bought the nurture right 360 incubator. I’ve had it running for almost a day. Temp reads 99.5 to 100°f. It goes back and forth. 50%-53% humidity. Is that ok for temp to go back and forth? Eggs will be here in 2 days. So what I have learned, in this order is; after eggs are received, let eggs rest overnight before putting into incubator. Does this length of time still apply if they come in the morning? When letting them rest, put in an egg carton with the pointed end down in the carton, wide end pointed up. After the sitting period, place in incubator. For my nurture right 360, eggs lay on side with pointed end facing the middle. I have an auto egg turner. It turns every 4hrs. How often should eggs be turned? From days 1-18, keep at 99.5 and 50-55% humidity. 3 days from hatch, increase humidity...I don’t remember to what percent though? Leave chicks in incubator to dry, then remove. I hope I didn’t leave anything out. Hoping to get a high hatch rate, as does everyone lol. Let’s cross our fingers that in 21 days, we’ll have Ayam Cemani, Swedish flower and white Bresse.

Did you buy a separate thermometer and calibrate it? Same for humidity gauge... Did you buy a separate one and salt test it?

But just caught this part of your post(missed it at first)....

I would check the condition of the air cells before you set them, if they are completely detached then ive found the best thing to do is set them upright in the incubator for the entire period of the hatch and just rotate and slightly tilt a few times a day.
Even sitting upright for 24 hours often doesnt help with this problem.
The last dozen eggs i hatched were shipped and every single one arrived with a completely detached air cell, i set them upright in my bator as above and had 9 out of 12 hatch.
If you set them on their side then the air cell will constantly float to the top as the auto turner works.

I’ll check them again before they are put in. It’s safe to carefully flip the eggs to check if it’s attached? I’ve never handled them before so I’m unsure how much they your able to move them. Thanks for your help!

Both. The breeder told me to do 50% for the first 18 days. What do you set yours to?
