This is not about Human Pregnancy (lol)but, When I was pregnant I found that having a support team of people due the same time as me was great for everything. Some of those ladies and myself are still friends 9 years later. I wanted to find out if anyone here is due between these dates for incubating if we can share the struggle. I lost my first batch, only had two make it past week 2 and they died before hatch. This time I'd like to know what others have going on too. Right now I have 11 chicken eggs that will be Legbar, Rhode Island/Barred mix, Barred Rock, Buff/Rock, and Australorp/Rock. And 3 duck eggs which I don't know if my Cayuga hens or my Pekin hen laid those. I'm gonna say Pekin bc she is older. I already lost one two days in. So, 3 left and I'm leaving the other 2 outside to see if they become broody. Im only using an LG incubator with auto turner and accurite thermometer. I haven't candled these half as much as the ones before lol. I'm trying to let them be this time. I learned my lesson. I also have 15 more eggs outside I have a Red and a brown leghorn sitting on them but, they still seem to get up a little too much out of their henhouse.

I have a hen who started incubating her eggs 4-5 days ago I think. So her chicks would be due to hatch (I just candled them today, 3 out of 4 have definite chicks in them) around Oct. 19-21 probably. I forgot to write it down though, so I'm just guessing. :p
I also have a batch in the incubator that is due to hatch a week from today!
All eggs have the same daddy, our Easter Egger cockerel. Out of our 25(ish) hens we have about 20 different breeds, all standard sized, so the chicks should be pretty diverse in color and appearance, LOL. And I think that a couple of the eggs are from our 2 Salmon Faverolle hens! :celebrate

Oh cool. Yayy..must be nice to have broody hens. I got home and went out to the pen and the two duck eggs are gone [rolls eyes]. Idk who is eating them but, I'm going to have to set up surveillance. I just candled today with gloves bc I'm not taking chances this time. It's day 7 and there's only one right now that may be dead. The chicken eggs outside are getting wet in the rain while their mothers are not doing their jobs sigh. But im glad you joined me.

Aw, I'm sorry about the duck (and chicken) eggs. :( Have you candled the ones in your incubator yet?
thank you! and yes I did all alive currently. Well, one questionable chick egg and one questionable duck egg...the one I thought was dead has something in there moving..a dark spot..but i don't get it bc I barely put it in on 9/30.

Aww, I love seeing a little chick moving around inside an egg. :wee

She/he does look older to me, too.
I think so too. My Brown Leghorn hen was a little broody then stopped. So, they were probably already cookin. I love it too..this time I bought gloves bc im not taking any chances.

We now have 8 chicks. :th And three more in eggs (one internally pipped right now) that are definitely alive. I will post pictures of the hatched ones soon. Their ages range from 4 hours to 10 days old!
