I’m worried one of my eggs that is supposed to hatch this week is in trouble.

I set the egg 4/16 at about 10pm in the incubator at 99.5 F with a humidity of 55%.

The egg weighed 102.80 g.
On 4/23 it weighed 98.10 g
On 4/30 it weighed 93.24 g
On 5/2 I changed the humidity to 50% temp was kept the same.
On 5/7 it weighed 87.97 g
Today, 5/10 it weighs 85.46 g

Has the egg lost too much weight to be able to successfully hatch? The baby inside is still alive because I do see movement. I plan on moving the egg into my hatcher Thursday evening. Should I do this sooner? Are there any adjustments I can make to humidity to help compensate for too much of the egg’s weight lost?

I checked this morning and the chick has pipped. The main thing I’m concerned about is the chick not getting enough oxygen.

I started to assist the chick in hatching out last night. It started bleeding a tiny bit so I stopped. I finished assisting it and the baby is finally out!

Thank you! I don’t think the baby would’ve made it without your help and advice. It’s toes are curled, is this a defect or normal for a chick that’s just come out of the shell?

Yes, chicks that have trouble hatching and take extra time to get out of the shell usually will have some curled toes and sometimes hock problems. When they can not get traction with their feet they cause another problem with slipped tendons and straddled leg(s). Use either medical tape or a flex cloth bandaid and make a shoe to flatten out the curled toes and make sure you have a non-slip surface like a shelf liner, paper towels are too slick, washcloths are good too.
