Incubation Help!

I totally agree. Just leave them be. I've heard some crazy ideas about wrapping them in blankets -which is common advice, but sooo wrong. They need air flow, and trying to keep them warm by smothering them could kill them.

To me they do seem wet but I haven't really had too much to compare them to. I was going with humidity around 55% but with this last batch I decided to try the dry method and see if that helps. I am pretty sure it is a humidity problem.

Yes, I always wash my hands right before handling the eggs and I up my humidity to around 70 at lockdown but it will vary between 60 & 70 by the day 19 & 20.

I lost power during Nemo on Friday and my chicks were due to hatch on Saturday. Out of 10 chicks 5 hatched and lived. When the incubator cooled and the fan stopped the humidity went to 100%. They were already pipped and the rest died in the shell. I helped 2 but they died a few days later.

Today I have 11 in lockdown and a storm expected to last 3 days. If we lose power I think I will drive them to a relatives house with a generator.
