Hello, I'm a newbie, I need some advice please. I have ten eggs in a small incubator, and they all were fine on day 18 when I candled on lock down. Temp was 38 on days 1-18. Humidity was 45-50% days 1-18. I added water on lockdown day 18 and the temp went up to 38.4 and I haven't been able to adjust the temperature back down. Humidity is showing between 60 and 70% on two different digital hygrometers. Now on day 20. And still waiting. Do you think the temperature is ok at 38.4 please? I tried to adjust it but not happening! Thanks in advance.

What is your incubator model? Can you unbulg it for a few minutes to cool it or put it someplace in your house that's a bit cooler? The humidity isn't too bad.

Hello, it's a Janoel 10. I could try unplugging it but am a bit worried I might mess it up. Everywhere in the house seems the same temp wise, I'm not sure moving it would help. Do you think they can still hatch at this temp? I tried adjusting the setting but I put a separate digital thermometer in it and it's showing 38.4. And won't budge. Days 1-18 the temp was 37.5. Seems as soon as I added the extra water it went up?

Higher than normal temps will accelerate development and hatching with the possibilities of failure to thrive being greater.

A few things to look for and do.

Find and make sure all vents are fully open.
Make sure no natural sunlight is falling on the incubator causing it to warm up.
Add slightly cooler water.
Crack the lid slightly allowing cooler fresh air inside.

Personally I would do the last and watch temps carefully

That temp is on the higher side of the suggest range. So it is still possible that they can hatch.
Try lowering if possible with thw above suggestions. I like my humidity slightly lower I have had better hatches that way. 30 to 50 for 1-18 and 50 to 60 for thw last three.

Hello and thank you. There are small air holes in this model. Humidity on two hygrometer is showing one at 62% nearer the bottom of the incubator by the eggs and the other on the inner side at 72%. Temp at 101.1. I'm trying to keep the room as cool as possible, but I'm a bit of a newbie to all of this and takes a while to learn it. I cracked the lid for a few seconds very slightly and trying to keep as much cooler air in the room around it as possible. Day 20 now. All were alive on day 18 lockdown and the temperature was holding at 37.5 at that point, when I added water for lockdown the temperature seemed to rise and I don't know why? :idunnoJust hope they can make it. Thank you.

Hello and thank you for that information. I'm a bit of a newbie really and find it really worrying! They were all alive on day 18 lockdown. The temp seemed to rise for some reason when I added water at lockdown(unless it's the digital thermometer)?:idunnoIt's sitting at 101.1 degrees now and humidity on two hygrometer is showing 62% on one and 72% on the other! I'll just have to wait and see. Thanks for that advice.
