I'm wondering if her water smells like bleach. Sometimes City water they put a chemical in it that gives off this bleachy smell. Since she's using that in her bator, perhaps that particular egg is shooting off that smell after all it's a possibility there's to much water in that egg in the first place.

The water that enters the egg via evaporation would not contain the chlorine, it would stay in the sponge/reservoir.
