Incubation progress of Muscovy eggs

Yes I didnt keep him in there long. It ended up tearing free of its cord (there wasnt really any yolk left anyway) so I rinsed it off and stuck it back in the bator. Has a swollen abdomen so I'm giving it the same treatment as the first one, seems like it will make it too!

Put some blue kote or Iodine on his vent..

I have some terrible news about the two muscovies I hatched two and a half weeks ago with the help of you guys here.

A few days ago, I made a nice little sealed off enclosure for them in my backyard so they could live there instead of the small brooder. Everything was going along perfectly until last night. When I went to check on them this morning, I saw one of them dead on the ground with several wounds on it, and the other was missing.

I almost came to tears. I'm guessing one of those good for nothing cats that roams around at night somehow made it's way inside, even though I tried my best to make sure the entire enclosure was completely sealed off. I am still in shock...

Oh you poor thing!! You did such a good job with those little guys :-(
One of the joys of other people not being responsible animal owners means there will always be feral/stray animals looking for easy prey. There is no way you could've known that would happen.
I am soooo sorry for your loss :hugs

Was the wounds on the neck and head? or on his body?

I'm incubating two eggs from one of my hens.
I THINK they started natural incubation 34 days ago. A silkie chook decided to brood on them, then mumma wanted in so they shared, then mumma was moved and didn't want to nest anymore.
I put them in the incubator because two were viable and healthy. I locked them down on day 32 and the air sacs are coming along nicely but one seems more developed than the other? Its air sac over the last two days has dipped right down on the higher side so it now takes up nearly half of the egg and when I candle, it looks as though it is kicking the air sac. Quick shadows going half way to the fat end of the egg and a lot of movement.
Is this normal?
(I've only done one incubation and messed it up terribly)
