Incubation progress of Muscovy eggs

Thanks Miss Lydia. It's sad that the second one didn't make it. At least one did. They had a fair bit of mucking around during incubation with mummas switching then quitting then in the bator so I guess I should be happy one made it.
I've got sone stuffed toys in the brooder but I hadn't thought about a mirror. That's a great idea! I've got a plastic one I'll pop in there
I am PRAYING this is a girl. If it's a boy I can't keep it and that will break my heart I suspect.

I hope it's a girl too , we can sure get attached fast. and post some pics when you can.

@Miss Lydia, the lone duckling LOVES its mirror!!
Has been peeping away at us like crazy and now won't shut up in its brooder! Goes peep peep peep about ten times then looks at the "other duckling" with its head tilted and repeats the process then pecks the mirror like c'mon talk to me lol. Adorable.
We named it Pip

So sorry...

That is most likely a yolk sack infection. If caught soon enough *some* can be saved with aggressive supportive care and an antibiotic like Baytril.

So sorry to hear about this one but it looks like an infection. the Scab is large and red around it almost irrated. large scabs like that makes it difficult for them to close up,


As far as the other one, I would NOT worry about human bonding, you are the only live thing he knows so he needs all the attention he can get. usually a mirror and a Stuffed animal will help. Make sure he eats and drinks..

Here is little Pip pip
I am so in love!! We go peep peep peep at her and she comes running over or goes peep peep peep back.
Keeps pooping all over the loungeroom and me but is so cute it's hard to be mad lol. Loves trying to eat my earings and necklace and climbs down under my scarfe and snuggles in for sleep xoxo

It's such a pity ducks can't be toilet trained.
Any ideas about her colouring?
I keep saying she in the hope that it really is a girl.
