Incubation progress of Muscovy eggs

The membrane is definitely drier....and the duckling is less red in the second photo. When you blow up the picture like Lori did, there looks like there is a dark edge around the shell where I snipped it.

Ok Lori - tell us what you see, and them tell me what to do!

Ok I don't know what happened to Kathy but what I was looking for is the SPACE... The space is very important, as you can see in the first pic there's tons of space all around the opening where in the second pic the wing has moved up towards the shell practically hitting the shell, which means she's absorbing her yolk and is getting bigger. Understand she's not fully absorbed....

That's what they do they absorb they get to large for the egg itself giving them two choices to either get the heck out of there and be free or stay in there in and give up.

This particular one is making progress!! It's exactly what we need her to do. She's not fully absorbed yet but is making great progress she hasn't giving up whewwwwwww..

So now what I need you to do is get that warm water and a Qtip and wet that membrane be careful not to get any water in her nose or in the beak.. Just gently go around the membrane.

Then will give her two more hours and see if she has made any more progress....

GOT IT! Will do it right now. Is water better than saline? I do have saline, if that's better...

When they absorb they full up the entire shell preparing for there exit. She's going a very good job...

Let's hope she keeps it up wooooooo hooooo, I'm very happy with what I see so far..

When you wet her let me know if she does the yawning and peeping still...

Now depending on how her progress is in the next two hours, have an onion and a cup available. The onion does not matter what color... The cup can be a coffee cup..

Going back and looking at the pics I can see it now, to my untrained eye I didn't see that the first time. Yay for baby!!
