Incubation progress of Muscovy eggs

Oh the noise!! She doesn't stop! Always telling a story lol.
The sounds she makes are hard to describe. I guess the best I could liken it to is a bird singing in the trees? And when I talk back she does it more but gets louder, as though trying to talk over me?
Tail wagging the whole time and mouth open with her neck stretched right out. She does it right in my face at night if I ignore her. To the point where I can feel her hot breath fogging up my skin.

Hmm well sounds like a girl, my drakes don't talk alot like the girls trilling.

Ok, its been a while since i've been on here. The first batch I hatched were for a friend. Now i have my own little flock going to 3 month old white french muscovies. I'm planning on letting the hen hatch and raise some for me, as hatching them myself was so darn hard But they are cute and entertaining birds for sure!

Hi everyone!

I know this thread is older but I thought it would be a good place to post. Twenty days ago I put a dozen eggs in the 'bator and crossed my fingers. Of course, this was before I found the BYC instructions so I've probably done every stupid thing in the book: I've kept the humidity as high as I could (always at least 86 degrees on a wet bulb), I had my digital thermometer go bonkers (without a second) and spent Day 4 and Day 5 with it reading temperatures from 93 to 103. As a result I lost 8 eggs (they all showed signs of starting to grow and then just stopped-pretty sure it was because of the temps) but I have 4 left with kicking kids inside.

So...questions:

1. The air sacks are small, like closer to Day 12 levels (and one looks like Day 1-its that small). Can I correct the humidity issues from the previous 20 days at this stage?

2. The Day 1 looking egg is...weird. There's a baby moving around and a defined air sack but when you look at it sideways the baby and veining only fills the top part of the egg while the bottom part is just clear with a few vein tendrils. The other 3 eggs most of the egg is dark and filled with veins. Any idea what that is?

Hi Kathy!

Yep, I found that while browsing and then spent a good 10 minutes laughing insanely/in horror while reading. I'm pretty sure if I TRIED I couldn't have started these guys more incorrectly. Oh well, now I know for the next batch. However, these 4 still have a bit to go. Can I correct the earlier mistakes or is it going to be touch and go if these guys make it?

Please excuse our candling and photography skills-they aren't that great. When I try to shine through the side it ends up just one solid shadow.


Egg A (trying to go from the side, the air sack is large and clear when I shine up through it). This egg and Egg C has this split thing going on-notice how the bottom half of the egg seems empty? Is that normal?
