I know everyone has different methods and would like to hear your ideas

How do you separate eggs in the bator when you have a smaller one? Mine only holds 22 eggs. Than I have another that holds 7. I've seem the loofah net way. Will that work in a smaller bator?

How long do you keep your chi ka in the incubator?

How long do you leave an egg in that hasn't hatched?

If you are giving chicks away that just hatched when is the soonest and how do they transport? I normally would wait a couple weeks, but my local friend wants them. Her drive is 15 minutes. Would you put hand warmers in with them wrapped in a blanket?

I'm sure I'll think of other questions :)

When I am hatching different eggs that I need to keep track of, I write on them with a crayon. I manually flip my eggs, so I mark on each side a symbol so that I know if they've been flipped. Usually I start with an x and an o, but I then draw symbols similar in shape and mark it on the calendar for different dates that they are put in the incubator. For different types of eggs, I mark on one end of the egg the initials of what the egg is.

Eggs need to incubate for approximately 21 days but they can hatch sooner and later. I would leave my in for about 24 days unless I know for sure that one has died.

I leave chicks in the incubator until they look fairly dry and fluffed up a little. I always leave them in for at least two hours, though I know that a lot of people leave them in for longer.

You could actually give them away at a day old, but personally I would wait until they are at least a week just to make sure they're healthy and doing well.

*I keep my newly hatched chicks in the incubator for a day or until it gets crowded and move the fluffed dry and active chicks to the brooder to let the other eggs hatch.

*I let the unhatched eggs in the incubator for extra 2 days.
*its best to transport newly hatched chicks within 24-36 hours and 15 min drive is no that long. Most chicks in feed mill had to travel 2-3 days, just put them in a box, keep them warm with towels and crank your car heater up.

I do mark my eggs with pencil. A code on the end. Then in my notebook I write more about the egg. Who I think it came from, where I found it, the date etc.

After the chick hatches I write what it looks like. Skin color, number of toes etc., but before you know it theres so many I lose track lol.

What kind of bator?
