I’m glad you are over this worrisome spell, however, if you live somewhere like I do (central Alabama) this will happen again.

I happened to have a power converter in my truck that plugs into the cigarette lighter/power port (has two different names depending on your age :lau) that accepts a 3 prong plug.

It was January when I had to plug the bator in, out in the truck, for a little over an hour.

They are not expensive, can be purchased at Walmart or online, and are just plain ol good to have. You just never know when you might need it.

Good luck with your babies.

Hi there. :frow

Great suggestions made already. :thumbsup

I face power outages regularly.. and it can cause deformities in addition to death of the embryo depending on what day of incubation and how low the temp goes for how long.

I keep bottles filled with sand and water inside my bator as a stabilizer, in addition to the blankets on the outside. If it last for very long I would be adding water bottles around the outside (not opening the lid) heated on my BBQ burner.

And one CRAZY method... that works... get someone to stuff the eggs in their bra! ;)

Some people have a car battery inside their home during outages... to hook up to the converter or some bators will even hook to the car battery with wire kit that plugs right in so the bator don't have to be moved. :)

Lots of peeps think they got something somewhere else and don;t think it could happen at their place. Not knowing the situation, I'm not sure. (I don't know your level of experience and such) But I could help you determine the truth if you like.

Certain parasite like lice or mites are just a standard battle in some areas,l especially of broody raised.

Glad to hear you didn't take it personal enough to let it stop you from trying to help them out! A perfect example of the BYC spirit.:highfive:
