Incubator HELP!!

Hi, I hope someone may have some good ideas for me. I have a Little Giant Still Air Incubator, that has been awesome for me, always kept really great temps. It was stored in my garage for the last 2 years or so (whilst we had a couple more real babies, lol). I wanted to join in on the trader joes egg hatch, I thought my older kids would love it.

So I came to get the bator out of the garage, and its got several (12 or so) insect worm holes, that have burrows in (or out?)of the sytrafoam . is my bator toast? is there anything I could patch it with, or would that not be an option? Obviously I still need it to hold its heat/humidity.

so bummed, we were going to set eggs this week :-(


edited so say, thinking out loud, what about white glue, or that "great stuff" foam

So I decided to try fix it with low temp hot glue. Looks like its working. It didn't melt the styrafoam. Plugged the bater in, straight up to temp, and its been holding a temp for 2 hours now. Ill watch it for another day or so, then I think it will be time for a trip to trader joes!

Do the holes go all the way through? Are worms or insects still in there?

I’d think that foam stuff would work well. I don’t think it breaks down with heat. My only concern would be maybe it releases fumes when it’s heated. You might contact the manufacturer and ask them.

How big are those holes? Probably all you need to do is seal them, glue or tape maybe. If you seal them you trap any air in there. Trapped air is a good insulator.

the holes are smaller than a pencil, and all the way through. There are no more insects in there. I think I might try some sort of glue.
