i have a small styrafoam homemade incubator with a 30 watt curly light bulb and a bowl with a sponge and water in it. the temperature reads exactly 100 degrees in it and it can hold about 16 eggs. i barely made it 2 days ago. i dont know what the humidity is though.
im currently testing it right now to see if the temperature doesnt dramatically change. what can i do to improve it?

For Humidity you will need a Hygrometer which you can pick up at walmart for $7, but I would calibrate it, mine were off 10% and 12%.

As for stable temp, if the room you have the incubator in warms or cools at all the temp in the incubator will change, unless you have somne sort of thermostat that can turn on and off the bulb as needed.

yeah im using one of those and it suprisingly does produce heat

crazy... well not that crazy... in my incubator, the fans raise the temp to 97 degrees... pretty narly... i guess if it uses electricity, it has to create heat....

do you know if the temperature will drop when i put in the eggs?

yes it will... that's why they recommend letting the bator run for 24hrs before setting the eggs... that way when you put the eggs in, it drops, but you know you don't have to adjust it... i have a good temp controller though... i let it run for an hour before throwing them in just to raise the humidity...

good luck...
