incubator ideas! post your ideas for home made incubators, whether they work or not~

Well, you could place the light on the side of the incubator, or the back of the incubator. You could place the wafer thermostat in the top center of the incubator. And for the fan, you could get a small metal desk fan from Wal-Mart, or the Dollar Store, and place the fan under the light blowing upward.

As for the egg turner, you could get a dozen egg carton, and zip tie 2 inch PVC to the bottom center of the carton, and once in the morning and once at night, you could tilt the eggs.

Or you could make one like the one shown on my cooler incubator page.

can u ck that url it does not work

Which works better the fiber/paper egg carton or the styrofoam carton for holding the eggs.
I use styrafoam ones. It's SO much easier, because the eggs don't get kicked around and it is easier to clean(if, you don't throw them away after every use). The chicks also have an easier time getting out of them. And they're sturdier than paper. And if they get wet they don't fall apart.

Sorry, if you go to my profile, under my articles, I have it named Chick-factory-incubator.

Thanks for the info, but I won't use a light in this one(don't have any left, anyways). I have a Little Giant heating element and I'm going to buy a GQF thermostat somewhere when I get the $$$. But if you could help, I would love to know the best place to place the heating element; preferably not on the top, but if it's the best place thn I will. I put stuff on top of my incubators( I use them as tables) and the top piece on the thermostat annoys me to no end. So if I put the heating element pastened to the top middle and the thermostat say on the side, would it be a bad place, ant have the temps go awry?

Dude, I just multi-quoted! On a phone! I didn even hit the "Multi-Quote" button!

And also, I'm going to(try) to make a turner design similar to Quintip's design. But with plywood or something. I'm recourceful; something'll work. :D
