Incubator improvements

with the double pane window, as it helps to prevent temp loss via loss of insulated surface. But, there is a possibility that condensation can occur between the panes and stays there forever.

This is interesting issue as I have double pain windows (Plexiglas) on the bantam hutch and the heated one quart water dish causes condensation between the 2 layers of glass. That is cold vs moisture, but wouldn't humidity, warmer air cause the same problem?​
 
He's not gonna do a window. I told him it would be easier, but he has his plan in his mind. He is going to make a plexiglass door like the one you can buy for the sportsman. And I think I am going to do away with the bottom tray and buy a hatching tray, or make one, haven't decided. The shelf will not fit on the bottom b/c of the way the floor is made.
 
You can also buy all the parts from www.dickeyincubators.com, his auto turner is $116 complete....give him a call, he answers the phone 7 days a week eastern time (Georgia)(478-982-5515)....in today's economy every penny counts and he wants our business, selling value and quality.....sounds like a Ford commercial...he builds them Ford Tough
 
The heat source is the same as a sportsman and Dickey, heater coils. The fan, I'm not sure. I was given the incubator. It's actually closer to a hatcher.

We used hovabator turners. The $116 is for just the motor and assembly, I would have to buy the racks, ect. I just bought a new Dickey, so I now have both.

I like your incubator and your ideas to up date it....you and hubby are on the right track...Dickey sells a 1/2" plex door, you might call or inquiry on size....as far as humidity pan - have you tried a large sponge in your pan? Also a small clear tube with a funnel on the outside would allow you to add water without opening the door. I read today on a thread that dry incubation was better than humidity over 55% and no lower than 25%...very interesting post from knowledgeable people.

Happy Hatch'en- we bought an auto humidty system from Mr Dickey. It's working perfectly. And my dh put a fairly large plexi window in the door, it looks great.

And on the humidity, I'm not sure about dry method, wet method, ect. I use the me method, we stay around 40-45% until the end then we go to 60%.


sporttees- make sure you have NO cracks or airholes in your door. And that your latches are tight, it sounds crazy, but before the rehabbing, I had difficulty with heat and humidity regulation. In the beginning of this thread, someone told me to check the door, we put in new latches and new door insulate and it holds temp and humidity perfectly. I'm not sure how the heater coils work, but my dh could help you out if you needed help with it.
