Incubator loaded for First Time

So far it looks like I have two more pips, with the originals making a few more knicks in their shell! I've got my brooder setup with the plate and will add food and water just before the chicks

Came down this morning and it looks like most of my Celadon eggs have pipped. I also found this one I guess working on making its way into the world. The wait from pip to zip is intense!

Got to stop at the house for a few and saw this one made its way out. Looks like it was just napping, hopefully convincing everyone else to come out lol

Congrats! I locked mine down yesterday. I didn’t say anything, but the turner stopped for 3 days and I didn’t notice. We had a fast power flash and I didn’t check the turner light was still on. However, I have a weird shaped egg my kids call the science experiment and he gets weirdly positioned with his bunk mate so every morning I’ve righted it, then hit the manual turn buttons to see he’s going ok. I’m hoping the one turn they got every morning on days 12-15 was enough.

Oh no I'm sorry to hear about your issues with the turner. At least you were still manually turning them once. I didn't realize the turner could get turned off without unplugging it from the top. I hope your hatch turns out well. I feel a little up in the air about the incubator, but should probably wait till the end of this hatch before judging it lol

TBH I think I’ll still get plenty of chicks. This issue has happened to me once before, I had mentioned it in some of the nr 360 Threads. This is the second time the turner stopped. I checked and set the day when I started, all was well. The first time it happened, I noticed it after it happened after maybe 12 hours or less, we had been having storms that made the lights flicker, but not even strong enough that I had to reset the clock on the microwave and stove. I noticed the day had changed in the menu but didn’t note the discrepancy.

So yesterday was lockdown, I didn’t candle, I was lazy haha too many eggs this time. But I noticed the turner light was off. I know it was on a couple days ago, and we do homeschool in the same room as the incubator and I remember it turning recently, but you end up just blocking it out. So I look at the days and it says 18 instead of 15. I don’t know when the issue happened, but it couldn’t have been off for more than 3 days, probably more like 2 days. I suspect it happened early on, maybe day 2 or 3, because we had bad storms again around then. I think it reset the day to something, but was still turning until it thought it was lockdown 3 days ago. Whatever or whenever it happened, there’s nothing I can do at this point, only time will tell now. They should start hatching on Friday. I was going to make an ad for them to post in BST and the NJ thread, plus craigslist, but now I feel like I have to wait and see, I don’t want the humiliation of telling people they didn’t hatch ☹️

I didn't see your post in the incubator thread about the issues. That is really strange that the timer would change like that. I definitely understand not wanting to list them before some hatch, I wouldn't want to have to tell people they didn't hatch. I think at the end of this hatch my incubator still might be in the return window. I just don't know what would be in the same price range and be any better.

I think muddy? maybe got a new one recently that I’m putting on my Christmas list haha. It was crazy pricey but really nice. As far as the same price range as nr 360, it looked like a lot of off brand junk, but if you find something good let me know. I love my incubator, but I want to hatch more at a time, so if I got a second one, I would probably still use both. I’m sorry yours has given you trouble, I really love mine, and I should have been watching that turner light.

I saw the Hovabator 2307 gave you around a 100 egg capacity and I thought they got got decent reviews but it is still a styrofoam incubator and I haven't done much researching. I've seen the Brinsea automatic one that is $520 and there is also Rcom that seems nice and around that proce I guess it's just figuring out how deep ($$) I want to dive in lol.

I read an article about a class chick project, they left on Friday, and on Monday had chicks. But they had at least 2 extra chicks! More than 1 was double yolk and they hatched and thrived, shockingly high odds against it.
