i have 12 Black Swedish Hen Eggs at 10 days, 7 Serama at 14 days and over 18 Serama at day 2 in a new Brisnea model. When I got up this morning it was unplugged. We are not sure how, no cats.
All of the eggs were cold and my incubator was unplugged for at least 10 hours. My incubator is really well made and holds heat well. Outside temp was 76 or warmer all night. I immediately plugged it in and got it going. After 4 hours of running the Brisnea I spot candled the eggs and saw little dancing embryos. I read an article on this site that discusses how eggs can be very tolerant of intermittent temperature swings, as long by as it’s not too hot, and couldn’t find it again. I am especially worried about the Serama’s as they are so small.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I almost started tossing eggs, and then decided it couldn’t hurt to try. I am worried about them even making it and then deformities.
The plug was either unplugged by our housekeeper (who loves chickens as much as me) or by my husband rummaging around the kitchen last night. Either way, it was a total accident. ALL power connection are now and forever in the future taped in place. It seems like it’s always something. I now have to wrestle a giant Cochin wife beating roo and try to wrangle a no-crow collar on him. He is 3 acres from the nearest neighbors and I’m getting complaints he is so loud.
I hope your day has been better! Good chickening.
